By in New Zealand,

Slick's the name. Racing's the game.

very fitting with the aussie GP just round the corner!

but the mid 90s racing set was pretty cool I will say

By in New Zealand,

That's actually pretty slick, which is a surprise, because most 90s Town cars were nothing like their name implied.

My first LEGO set

Here he comes, here comes Slick Racer, he's got a car, it has wheels.

By in United States,

I think it's pretty amazing that the Speed Champions Formula 1 cars from 2025 use the same vehicle base part that was introduced for the little Town Formula 1 cars like this in 1996!

By in Australia,

I remember finding this set in a little mid-sized Toys R Us in the early 2000s when I was in college, and I thought, the poor set had sat there for years without being bought.

Obviously I immediately bought it.

Um, Speed...we found your uncle...:D

Semi-seriously: I DO remember in my childhood a cartoon series called "Tom Slick", made by the same folks behind "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle"...well, the reruns at any rate (I'm not THAT 'old':))

Go Slick Racer, go Slick Racer, go Slick Racer go! ...I think I'm getting something wrong there.

By in Turkey,

I didn't have town sets from 90's, then in late 2000's I've found this one and couple of others misb on second hand. Needless to say I got them all.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

I just built this set lmao

All this F1 is really getting out of hand...

Speaking of slicks, I think those tires are possibly my favorite Lego tires. So smooth and fun to zoom around.

By in United Kingdom,

See, yesterday’s entry, this is how car go!

By in France,

I remember loving this race car when I was a kid. The printed parts were awesome and used on many a build at the time. However, I really missed one of its brother ( 6335 or 6337 ) or related sets ( 2886 , 2535 ). With its smooth tires, it stood out in my City. And to this day I don't believe I have any other set of 4 tires like those.

Its model also served in the videogame "Lego Island" where one could customize their racing car with colors and numbers. That was the fun part. The race in the haunted cave with the giant skeleton was very difficult.

BTW, where would one fix the inventory of the set? I still have all my building books with the parts' index.

My name's Slick. Oil Slick.

By in Czechia,

One of my few lego sets from the childhood =). And I still own it :)

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Does Huwbot know something about the impending Mar10 announcement for the Mario Kart set?

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Oh my, this set might have the highest ratio of printed parts to total number of parts! Prints bonanza!

License to spill

Gravatar
By in United States,

With Octan being an oil company, that's an apt name for the car they sponsor.

Gravatar

Another great 90s set!

Mine too! Got it as a souvenir from my parents when visiting Legoland, must have been 3 or 4 years old. Good ol' days!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

At first I read "Sick Racer", and thought wow, that has got to be an interesting face print. Yeah I know, we now actually have face prints of someone feeling sick, but back in the day of this set that would have been awesome.

By in Austria,

Loved this as a kid. Never got 6335 or 6337, though I did eventually get the truck last year. Still hunting for the finish line.

This one had great prints, great tires, and a simple build you could do in your sleep. I've made a lot of similar cars for my future race set up based on this design, and, of course, it's lovely to see the OG Speed Champions in 4-wide.

I love this set. It's peak mid 90s Town!

The product images from this era are so nice by the way. It looks so sunny, vibrant and well produced.

I never noticed the background! For how long I spent looking at catalogs and such, you'd think I would have, but it looks very Mediterranean. I see both Italian and Spanish vibes, but I'd honestly hazard it's Monaco simply for the waterfront racing.

By in United States,

4 is an appropriate number for this, considering how similar in size it is to a golf cart.

Whose inventory? Brickset pulls all set inventory data from the LEGO servers, so if they’ve got mistakes, they show up here, too. Inventories are redownloaded daily, I believe, so any corrections wouldn’t stick around. On Bricklink, they have a page where you can use a form to submit corrections, and the inventories are all user-submitted (which includes any bonus small parts). Rebrickable does a hybrid of the two systems, I think, starting with the official LEGO inventory but adjusting for errors that creep into the system.

Peak Lego design. Simple, sleek, and perfectly built.

By in Germany,

Really liked the 1996 Racing line.

I got this together with the amazing Indy Transport right after seeing them new in stores. Makes a nice addon for either the Transport or Fast Track Finish (which had the other 5 identically built race cars).

Not as cool as the green car from 6335, but it was the only one with prints other than the numbers.

There were quite many new pieces for a Town set in this and it also made the printed stars helmet quite much more easily affordable.

This type of race car could be built and driven in LEGO Island 1, but only the green one had the correct prints.

The driver is called Indy LeMans (who could be built as a playable character in LEGO Racers 1).

I'm starting to believe that Lego has only ever made race cars. Everything else is a psy-op, wake up!

A-well-a, everybody's heard about the bird
Bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, well, the bird is the word (singed with Peter Griffin's voice)
