I came here expecting RMotD, only to remember it's daylight savings time in the UK.

Given how he's driving, I think she going to need a lifeguard herself.

It's not fair! I was here first, I know it!

"Res-Q".... cuz apparently it's difficult to spell out "rescue."

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a good thing there's a lifeguard, brother's about to drive straight into the ocean.

By in Canada,

new ones for 120$ wow..1714% inflation over 27 years on that one. Better than gold at around 1405%

My favourite set of the subtheme is 6451.

By in United States,

I always wanted these sets as a kid, but alas, I never got any... glad to have the memories brought back, though! They still look so fun and cool! Thanks Huwbot!

By in United States,

If you ignore the spelling, this set's name is a sentence.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only set I got from this sub-theme was 6445, which I only bought because I wanted the zipline.

Yup, they're back on the normal 9/10 schedule where I live, until the fall time change.

Yup, works that way at both ends. One hemisphere starts DST before the other hemisphere ends it.

The irony of complaining about unnecessary abbreviations while doing that to a good honest word like “because”

Would you Res-Q me?
Would you get my back?
Would you take my call when I start to crack?
Would you Res-Q me? Ah
Would you Res-Q me?

Good thing you mentioned it......up to now I had absolutely no clue, only now noticed it's an hour later than I thought it was :-(

As for this set, I really don't like how it looks, but as a kid would have wanted it anyway just because of that canopy piece.

By in Poland,

Since I don't have nostalgia goggles about this set, i will say it's an subpar design signaling the late 90s decline and juniorisation of then-Lego. Misb price for this now is bonkers, wow.

A rare Res-Q set I didn't have as a kid. It was such a great theme. I used to bring the one boat that actually floated in the tub with me

Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?
It's like rain on your wedding day

By in United States,

Res-Q was in general a great theme: awesome colours and great Town builds in a year when juniorization was in full swing with normal Town, but this one (which I want to say was a non-standard pr exclusive in some way) doesn't do it for me--that vehicle (car? SUV?) is a wedge on wheels.

I totally agree. It was this type of set that kept me in my dark ages. I finally knew LEGO was back on track when my son bought 7239 with an Amazon gift card he had won. That’s what a Town/City set should look like.

They couldn't call it that because there was already an existing sub-theme with that name: https://brickset.com/sets/subtheme-Rescue"

Blacktron 1, Blacktron 2, Space Police 1, Space Police 2, Space Police 3, Knights Kingdom 1, and Knights Kingdom 2 would all like to have a word with you, if you don't mind.

Really, it's probably because "rescue" can't be trademarked, but "Res-Q" can.

By in United Kingdom,

The lifeguard doesn't look too impressed by this weirdo wearing a spacesuit inside a mobile space capsule crashing onto her beach, or are we both missing the bigger picture?

Holy crap, it's proto-Bionicle!

It was a limited edition, right? Do you know where the set was sold? Or was it GWP or some employee's gift?

It would most likely be because they wanted an interesting name spelling.

Which makes it look like some private contractor providing the rescue services, as a part of some NPM/privatisation politics. They could probably cut costs and make the lowest bid by using jacked-up Randers* cars instead of Jeeps or Land Rovers.

The whole series was widely available at every US retail location from Kmart to Toys R Us. Only one set in the Res-Q series was a Shop At Home exclusive (before official Lego Stores) and that was 6473-1 Res-Q Cruiser. The Res-Q series was very nearly Blacktron-Town.

Quit making up store names. You know neither of those actually exist.

Yeah, wasn't around back then. I was just joking, anyway — it's a cool name.
