Random set of the day: Power Boat Transporter
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 4643 Power Boat Transporter, released during 2011. It's one of 29 City sets produced that year. It contains 254 pieces and 2 minifigs, and its retail price was US$39.99/£19.99.
It's owned by 5,361 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $56.00, or eBay.

Looks like the truck has a cup holder! I wonder how many LEGO cars can say that.
That’s a pretty cool boat.
Such a classic City set.
I saw a Boat! Yeah, it went by not too long ago.
Also, why is the Fire Helicopter on the side bar now a box?
Hey I have this! I like these boats for their looks, but they do not play well in water. The hull isn’t watertight, and it takes on water pretty easily.
But they do push along the carpet well.

I made some vehicles with cupholders. More conventionally, they're called the drivers. Steer with one hand, hold cup with the other.
Yeesh, $40 is pricey even by today's standards
Huwbot's on a boat kick today, huh?
There is this, then there is 60085 in 2015, and then 60254 in 2020. Man, that's a long wait if you were collecting powerboats with trailers. This is Lego betting on you to become a lifetime fan.
A truck and a boat in one set? Nice twofer combo
Is this the one you get as default in 2K Drive?
Looks like they won big on Bullseye
Plenty of fun with a simple truck, trailer and floating boat. Unlike the later versions the trailer was also useful for moving other cargo.
Ah, this one. It filled out a niche in the harbor (sub?)theme City had going in 2011. But between 4642 Fishing boat, 4641 Speedboat, 4644 Marina, and 4645 Harbor this one felt the least interesting to me. It even uses a similar size hull to the fishing boat... but now it's only a watercraft with the play value of the speedboat, albeit larger and able to float.
That said, it's better than later versions because of the decent trailer.
At least it's not 7287 Police Boat. I forgot that that one even came out in the same year because police boats had been done since 2006 in City and we had one every few years for a long time.

The trailers get skinnier and skinnier.
This shape boat hull is still sold with 60373 Fire Rescue Boat
60456 Police Boat has an entirely new boat hull, with a lot more depth and interior build area, I like the design choice.
The set that brought me out of my dark ages when I bought it for my daughter. Cost me a couple of quid since!
Ahh, I remember when this was £10 on Amazon. Happy days!
Pairs well with RMotD from the following day...
