And a red snake, spider, printed map tile, and Backpack. All really great parts to get in a small set. I have two of these.

I found it! It's right there! Well, that wasn't so hard, after all. Clearly Indiana Jones was just hamming it up to show off.

The real hidden treasure are the animal friends we made along the way.

You mean, the ones currently trying to kill this poor woman? Or different ones?

This set was so lovely. Jewels, animals, a map, that lovely chrome treasure piece, the foliage pieces, and all in a very affordable set.

By in Turkey,

These are true gems, I should have collected these smaller sets. Only small number of polybags measure upto these nowadays.

A few years back a local market stall was selling boxes of these for 5 NZD apiece. Very happy I snagged one, it's a great slice of 90s goodness!

For the supposedly unique one-of-a-kind item that was the end point of the Adventurer's quest, that Sun Disk really pops up in a lot of places in a lot of sets

The same with the ruby from the first wave. I guess this was before Lego became obsessed with "collectible" elements, although by Orient Expedition each of the unique treasures could only be found in one set.

By in Poland,

One of the best themes ever. These small sets were great for giving kids a chance to get more interesting pieces for a small price.

The face prints of that era were perfect, a good balance between simplicity of the 80s and detail of the late 00s.

I miss Adventurers so much. By far my favorite theme as a kid.

I believe the backstory is that they are all decoys, with the real one being in 5986 Amazon Ancient Ruins. A fun excuse to give us a cool piece in lots of sets.

By in United States,

I have the version that came in a small box 1271 Jungle Surprise. Found piles at the discount store Tuesday Morning years back. They've all since been sorted into my parts bins, because they're pretty good parts.

Upon seeing that this is another set that was released under two numbers, I'm wondering which one of the two I really had. I have 1271 listed as owned, but considering how much time would have passed between obtaining the set and listing it here, and I'm not one hundred percent sure I still have the instructions (and even if I do, there's no way of finding them quickly right now, anyway), I may never know for sure. I may well have listed 1271 as owned because I saw it first when adding sets to my owned list.

Look, I'm more than willing to try snake meat, but you can have all the spider you want; I ain't touching that.

It's always a good day for an Adventurers set to be featured! :D

Interestingly, in the UK story media at least, the hero Adventurers were never actually trying to take the Sun Disc for their own. In the comic in the third issue of Adventures magazine, Johnny and Kilroy explicitly say that their intention is to photograph the disc, study it, and then leave it where they found it. And in The Lost Temple puzzle adventure book, the heroes' only stated goal is to stop Senor Palomar from stealing the disc (and also to find a flower with healing abilities), not to do anything with it themselves.

UK story media also didn't really elaborate on the nature of the Sun Disc other than it being valuable. If there's one 'real' one and several 'fake' ones like this, then there must be something more to it than just being any old random disc made of gold; does the 'real' one have magical powers or something? Given that we know Achu, the guardian of the disc, has magic abilities, that sounds like it makes sense.

All the same, if the 'fake' Sun Discs are still made of gold but just don't have those powers, they must still have a decent bit of value in their own right; probably justifying even a fake Sun Disc being referred to as treasure in this set name.

(Also, the Sun Disc was a really cool piece. And I'm happy they did make the decision to include it in multiple sets rather than just the big one that (I believe?) never made it to the UK; I have a couple of them, from 5956 and 5936, and I've always liked them a lot ^^)

So they didn't think that it belongs in a museum?

The trick is you need to make sure you burn all the little hairs off their bodies. Or so I hear.
