Random set of the day: Ship
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 4018 Ship, released during 2001. It's one of 22 Creator sets produced that year. It contains 12 pieces, and its retail price was US$2.
It's owned by 112 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $10.20, or eBay.

10 times shorter than the minimal length required. Pitiful.
Pretty obviously cobbled together from excess parts. The color choices are certainly... something.
Star Wars wasn't the first theme to have down-sized sets, it would seem.

Well it is a ship, and not a SHIP.
And it does have trans neon green and black, so it isn't all bad. Just mostly bad.
Tomorrow: Stick.
They really should use the old creator logo again, it’s really great. The Trans-Neon Green slope is nice. Can’t say this is a good parts pack, and that’s sayin’ something for a $2 set.
I thought they learned not to let Homer design vehicles anymore.
I can’t believe they’d charge money for this.
I’m surprised Brickset is publishing leaked images of the next CMF.
Straining what can be called a “set”.
Just one letter off from an accurate description.

I mean... I guess it could make an okay shim, but it's pretty thick for that purpose.

Well, it was a free gift with sweets so it doesn't really have much parts value to begin with, let alone street value. But yeah, enough to fiddle with while eating your sweets but far too little to enjoy beyond the age of 7 imo.
Vroom... I guess
I’ll take your word for it, set name
It is a small ship.
So... the new Black Pearl is much smaller but also much more affordable than I expected!
I would have called the set BOAT
It looks more like a yacht than a ship. Even then you have to push your imagination to the limit.
I looks fine to me. What do you expect from 2001 Creator? Remember 4171 from two days ago? Same theme.
If anything, there's a nice trans neon green slope, green bricks back when they were still starting to become more common, some useful black plates, a printed slope, and even a decent shape due to the length and slope and inverted slope. This was meant to make alt builds with, so in that regard its simplicity is decent too.
I mean, I wouldn't say it's an all time great, but that's fine. It's 2001 Creator. Not 2025 Icons! Or even 2025 Creator.
Very remniscient of the 1999 Happy Meal Polybags, just this time no mc donalds mascots printed on slope pieces
One of the letters in the set name is wrong; see if you can find out which one.

Yet 112 Brickset users own this thing, so some kids must've been happy to own this.

I don’t know, man. From my phone screen it looks like this Creator logo caught… something. And it looks contagious.

You're gonna need a bigger boat?

No, it's still a model built from a collection of bricks. Individual CMFs are straining the definition. Most of those, the only thing you build is the minifigure.

I really miss that logo. While I was only born in 2001 i had an used copy of the Creator Knights Kingdom I videogame i played alot as a kid. So it’s quite nostalgic to me

Suprisingly high number for a set only sold bundled with candy in a single country. Though i wonder what the process was behind deciding if Kabaya got unique sets or just repackaged existing small sets depending on each theme.
I'm surprised that the current price for new ones is that high!!

Not only isn't it a SHIP, it's not even an IP--it's barely got any Ps to mention!
