Oh wow, this is one of the few LEGO City sets I own.

Seems to work well enough on Earth.

Hey, another one I have! Crazy to think that this Space/City wave was a decade ago. I remember the set, and it’s still a nice polybag. Nothing fancy, but still cool.

How is karen and her precious little gremlins meant to all fit in there

Nevermind that. How are you supposed to knock other vehicles off the road with that tiny thing?

I can't believe they didn't use this space gizmo in space. How come?

Does this actually roll? It looks like the bottom is even with the tires.

It has a very low clearance, but I can confirm it does indeed roll.

By in Turkey,

This was in the pile of parts that my cousin gave me. The dish was the hint and I recently built it. Nice set, goes around the base regularly...

For fixing the Space Plumbing or Space Electrics?

"Home Base, this is Dragonfly... I hope you read me. I fear this may be my final transmission. It's so hot, I think my suit is losing its integrity. My hands, they - they keep wanting to take off the helmet. The urge is getting stronger, though the air is so toxic. It's... the suit is so HOT. My throat is parched. My hands keep wandering near the suit's clasps. If I undo the clasps, I wonder what will get to me first? How will I go? Will it be fast? So hot. My throat... I think this is it, Home Base. This is... Dragonfly, signing off..."

"For god's sake, Daryll, you're not on Mars, you were doing donuts in the parking-lot. And I know it's hot out, but nobody ASKED you to come to work dressed as an astronaut."

By in Netherlands,

Pretty good for a polybag. Leagues better than 3365 from 2011, which was a full release boxed set. Whereas I don't think I've see this one before in the wild back then.
That dish alone is fun!

Fun fact: this minifg is also in 60078 Utility Shuttle, 60080 Spaceport and 60077 Space Starter set (he has a lens attached to the side there). Thus, he only doesn't appear in 60079 Training Plane from that wave of City Space sets, which doesn't feature fully decked out astronauts anyway.
So he really seems to be central to that year's subtheme...

In comparison with every other LEGO moon rover, it looks as if it was designed by an Italian.

Ah so that's the origin of the acronym.
Kind of fitting, since space is one of the main advantages of an SUV. Funnily enough, this particular example doesn't seem to offer much in that regard.
:-)

Don't know. If you leave off the accessories, the general shape reminds me more of a Koenigsegg, or McLaren.

Must have been made in SoCal.

Haven't thought that deeply about it. Just wanted to point out that Italians design everything with great sense of aesthetics =)

Moon Rover lasts about a mile
I'll be driving you in style one day
Oh, dream maker
You heartbreaker
Wherever you're going, I'm going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon Rover and me...

Has the set name been changed over the course of this morning? The RSotD article name calls it "Space Utility Vehicle", while the set page itself just calls it "Space Vehicle". I'm confused why they aren't the same?

Gravatar

This is actually a surprisingly convincing lunar rover.

Set names have been changed in the database after being picked as RSotD before. The most notorious, of course, was 3220 Christian with Gifts being called "My Dad," but it also happened here: https://brickset.com/article/102607.

The blue disc is actually a speaker that plays "Lowrider".

By in United States,

It's unreasonably frustrating to me that Lego hasn't made another spacesuit helmet and pack piece and continues to use the diving equipment from Atlantis.
At least the first time they reused helmets from an underwater theme for astronauts it was a futuristic underwater theme and not some 20000 Leagues Under the Sea business.

Thanks for the answer ^^

I'm just a bit puzzled by it. "My Dad" being renamed matches the Bricklink catalogue name, so I get that for the sake of consistency; but both this and the friends set are still listed under their former names on Bricklink, so I wonder why the changes came about in those cases?

@TheBrickPal said in 30101's RSotD article that they'd double-checked and that the official name was "Mia's Skateboard," so changed it. As for Bricklink, maybe they're just not as on-the-ball about things like this.

A similar situation indeed happened here. Every other fan site calls this polybag Space Utility Vehicle for some reason, but LEGO.com's instructions page simply refers to it as Space Vehicle, so that wins out.

At the same time, lego.com refers to https://www.lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?query=27145 as "MINI EQUIPMENT, NO. 2", but we all know what that really is.

Maybe TLG just really hates the word 'utility'.
