Forget the face, I'm not even sure his outfit translates well into CCBS form.

Also, not Bionicle, but still Constraction. Huwbot's on a streak.

Back when I was making Star Wars Bionicle MOCs, I really wanted to make Darth Maul. Problem is, no cloth elements would replicate his robe, and regardless of whether I put a red or black mask on his head, it just didn't translate until I took a red mask, painted the inside black, and added black lines to the outside.

Best Star Wars set ever!

By in United States,

I hate to say this when this is undoubtedly better than any set in that range, but for a split second my mind thought I was looking at a Galidor set.

By in Australia,

the bulky asthetic of ccbs did not lend itself to this design at all.

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like this set. In fact, I really liked the Buildable Figure subtheme as a whole. There were only a couple of bad / mid sets, imo.

By in Canada,

These are atrocious. IMHO

By in United States,

I know that the Buildable Figures are far from the most popular Star Wars subtheme, but I still liked them. I really wish 75538 had been released. I also sort of wish I hadn't gotten 75538, because 75534 was a definite improvement, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy another buildable Vader (which I'll admit is a bit hypocritical, considering I own every minifig-scale Y-Wing). Final note: I was a bit surprised to see that 7591 and 7592 are listed as part (well, the entirety) of a Buildable Figures subtheme of Toy Story. Not that I mind seeing Toy Story show up in a list.

Pretty sure you didn't.

HOW MANY 2015 sets?

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I think some of the buildables are done very well. Figures without the mask are the weak links of the theme but I loved the 75532 for instance. And I still don't know why I didn't get 75112.

But which is more uncanny valley; this guy’s head or the CGI Luke from Mandalorian S2 finale?

.....and now I won't sleep for weeks anymore. Nightmare fuel....

By in Germany,

Only 21 likes so far. @Huw how about an article about the least liked RSOD?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I know this is a very memed about set, but it’s kind of underrated IMO. He looks nowhere near as bad as the non helmet figures like TLJ Rey or Jyn. I think the black outfit hides the bare parts on him, and I’ve seen much worse head moods from this line.

Not a great set of course, but credit where credit is due!

These figurine sets only really stood out on display when included with a speeder like 75532.

This one posed duelling with Darth Vader looks good.

Looking at this set, no wonder his dad turned to the dark side....

By in Netherlands,

I low-key regret not picking this one up. Sure, Boba and Maul are bigger regrets, but I still feel like this luke was interesting. Something this pose doesn't quite capture is the depth of this figure. The calves, backside and top shoulders are covered by parts in a way that was not normally seen with CCBS. And unlike the later human figures, Luke and Obi-Wan don't have a gearbox, so it's all shaped by panels.

Besides, I just think the all-black outfit looks neat :)

Argh, copy-pasted the wrong number. I meant 75111.

@Trigger_ said:"HOW MANY 2015 sets?"

Multipacks and small promotional builds are included in that that number, and there were a *lot* of the latter.

@jkb said:"Only 21 likes so far. @Huw how about an article about the least liked RSOD?"

The number's up to twenty-eight as I type this, but there was a feature looking back at RSotD's first five years (https://brickset.com/article/90305/five-years-of-random-set-of-the-day) which tallied the most- and least- viewed, commented on and liked articles. You can probably guess the most commented on, and I wouldn't be surprised to see another one show up for the feature's tenth birthday.

Speaking of the most commented on and viewed RSotD article, @TransNeonOrangeSpaceman said:""I am a Jedi... Like My Dad before me.""

Man, Star Wars has really gone downhill since the Disney buyout, hasn't it?

Gravatar
By in France,

Looking back at it, it's a bland all-black build with an uncanny head piece. And he also has no gearbox, since the parts made for these ultrabuilds was introduced the following wave with SW7. So no fun in it.
If you need a better jedi, either mod his torso or pick Rey, any version will do the job.

Only one of these figures I own.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I have a few of them. But 75112 is the best one I pwn, by far. It's actually great.

Least liked or least Liked? Pretty sure My Dad got a ton of the latter, but wouldn’t be welcome in many homes. Especially sitting on the nightstand, next to your bed, while you’re sleeping, with the lights turned off.

Those are both really cool, and I wish I would’ve gotten both of them.

What an utterly ridiculous sentence.

IS WHAT I WOULD SAY IF I DIDN'T ALSO LOVE THIS SET (although I get the sense we are both being sarcastic, and 75111 was amazing as a companion figure)

Dear God... I forgot these SW buildable figures were a thing. They were quite awful looking, IMO.

Don't worry: Once there will come a day when Huwbot will have had picked* all of them and none will be left to creep the designid:6438899 *** out of us. And finally, everything will be good again...

*getting the tenses right is one of the trickier things when English isn't your native language**. Feel free to correct me.

** it can be difficult in your native language, too, if it is a rarely used tense.

*** I spent 10 minutes trying to find out how to link a design. Then i gave up.

By in United States,

My problem with this set is that it is all black with just two spots of pink. While accurate to the movie, it just looks like the builder couldn't find enough pieces in the right colors.

@jkb:
I think you just need to drop the “had” for it to be a legitimate format, but I couldn’t tell you if it’s future perfect, future imperfect, or something else. And for anything except usernames and set numbers, you just have to throw the whole URL in there.
