So goofy yet cute.

I've heard some cars described as coffins on wheels but this is ridiculous!

Yeah, the connection with Brickset has been rather spotty lately. I had a similar thing happen a couple days ago, and had to wait a few minutes before my comment showed up here. It is kind of funny to see accidental spam though.

You have to shoot the comment in the brain, or it keeps coming back.

It's funny how the "coffin car" was already a thing when the part was initially released: 5919

Funny and topical. Respect.

Nostalgia for when lego was fun. Those were the days!

One of my favorite sets, it was really hard to find in my area so I had to order it from Bricklink. That whole line is fun, I miss themes like that.

Gotta hate the lack of seriousness of Monster Fighters. Atypical example here, easy to get worse.

This is a great little set, how did I miss this. I'ld prefer sportier wheels though.

One of my biggest regrets was being a disciplined 'Star Wars only' Lego collector back then. I've remedied that for most of the good sets, but not this one. :(

At least this one admits it, unlike the sneaky one there. Which, tbf, I really liked as a vehicle design amongst the other Adventurers cars, nice to see it being reused here

Ah, back when polybags free with newspapers was still a thing and helped drag me back out of my dark age.

By in Australia,

I desperately need more of that vintage car grille piece. It's a shame the light bluish grey ones are especially rare.

Still my favourite theme by far. It's not even a contest.

Yeah, I don't 'gotta' do that any of that.

You guys realise they’re parodying the accidental multi post in the comments, right?

You and I are thinking of entirely different generations of kids, right? Right? Oh, you don't mean...

I miss Monster Fighters. Such a cute little promotional set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Didn't George Barris build a car for the Munsters that was sort of like this?

I think I have a Rigor Motor from Hot Wheels around here somewhere--same concept as well.

Anybody else get a "Munsters" vibe from this car AKA Drag-ula...:D

By in Netherlands,

Monster Fighters was a great theme. This is not the best set of the theme of course, nor is it even the best polybag or the best zombie car of the theme (I like 40076 a slight bit more), but none of that is even slightly diminishing how fun this set is. For the price (or funky availabilty) of a polybag you get the Zombie driver and a coffin, not to mention the coffin car itself.

This October I finally managed to build the whole theme and display it in one cabinet. It looks glorious. I love Lego's spooky themes a whole lot and I also love Hidden Side and the Studios Horror lineup. But there's something about Monster Fighters' equally silly and dark style. For example, in the Vampyr Castle there's a trapdoor that drops you into a spike mat. The fact that there's a hearse carrying a coffin that is also a hotrod. The gruesome designs of the zombies. And the general dark colors used which are nonetheless still colorful are just delightful. Although the theme is heavily vehicle-focussed and the desaturated colors are not for everyone, Monster Fighters is just an all around great theme. One of the best of Lego's originals from the 2000s.

Ahh! Whoops. Hah, I must’ve long pressed, and I didn’t check back to see. That’s weird. I’ve had this happen a few times, but never five!
