By in United States,

It's like the goodguy version of yesterday's set.

Also, double space!

Double Classic Space!!
(UFO barely qualifies as Classic Space but I'll allow it for this.)

By in United States,

I loved this little thing! I also love the fact that some version of every mold used in this set is still in production. Finally, I'm wondering if using two 1x1 round plates up front was to make the front laser look more powerful, or just because those plates came on sprues of two back then, and this was a way to use up that spare.

By in Australia,

It's not a laser! It's a little light bulb that blinks!

Double Space! Great little CS set, and it’s just another reminder that TLG could really do polybags and $10 boxed sets so much better, it’s really a shame. Also, I love the color scheme with this little guy, just so much to love.

By in New Zealand,

That's actually quite cool, for how small it is.

Futuron isn't really Classic Space, either.

The thirtieth anniversary of that movie's premiere was two days ago, so I built 43264 as I rewatched it.

By in Netherlands,

It's so cute! Also, one of the few that had the black Futuron astronaut, so even there it's a great one to get. Great slope too!

Also, I love how much is moveable here. You can fold up both the wings and engines (?) for when it lands! Futuron had some great Space sets, and this one was one of their best!

By in Netherlands,

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Futuron here!

By in United Kingdom,

A Rogue in RMotD a couple days ago, a Ranger here today, when do the Barbarian and Wizard show up?

Yikes! Too many UFO haters out here... :P

Interesting how the Black Futurons were even rarer than the Black Classic Spacemen. Only 5 sets total; one being a rare limited value pack, another a Dacta set. I think 6885 also wasn't available everywhere, so that only leaves 2 sets (though both were really small and cheap). Though the parts themselves are way more common due to Space Police I.

This was one of the last Futuron sets to be widely available (some of the Value Packs might have come later). The other set in that wave was 6850, which had a nice transformation feature. The moving wings in this one are nice too for it's size.

Both of them were the first sets I got used. Oddly enough I never had any of those pointy front "wing" pieces with the anti-stud before.

By in Sweden,

Hey! I just built this, and a few other Futuron sets, a few weeks ago, for the first time since my childhood. I also put my thoughts in a Brickset User Review, maybe that inspired Huwbot... :)

By in Turkey,

I recently got this from a second hand lot and built it. It's a good looking set with nice folding wings. Futuron is a worthy follow-up to the Classic Space theme.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hey, got one! Together with 6850 my last Space sets, as by the time I was all in on Technic, and for some reason we kept the regular and Technic stuff (almost) strictly separated. Almost, as sometimes I did sneak in some regular pieces into my Technic builcs. Don't tell my mom!

For some reason this one always felt a bit "off" to me, I guess it's the lack of exposed studs?

By in Belgium,

When I look at sets like these, I wonder why we need spaceships of 1,000+ pieces.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Always love seeing one of my childhood sets pop up. Love the amount of functional detail packed into such a small build.

Probably because they are more interesting to build and have much more detail. There are small sets in boxes and bags. If they sold in their millions because people wanted them in huge numbers then no doubt LEGO would make more.

By in Poland,

It may not have a lot of parts but it does have 2 marble chalices making it a truly opulent set.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I did have several Futuron sets as a kid (the largest being 6932), but this one somehow passed me by. Which is kind of strange since most of the sets I got tended to be from the lower end of the price range, like this one.
I would have of course loved to get the crown jewel of the theme (6990), but that was out of the question. So glad that I did manage to obtain it a couple of years ago in perfect condition via ebay.

Blacktron for cowards.

By in Czechia,

Ohh, adorable little set. A lot of "swoosh" or "phew, phew" child memories for this one.

I was today years old when I learned I have a very different definition of "Classic Space".

For me, it's anything before my first Grey Age in 1999. I guess the official definition is pre-1988.

Same reason we needed a 478 piece spaceship (6986) the same year as this one.

Yesterday's Fighter is subbing for the Barbarian, so that's the melee muscle taken care of, at least. I'm wondering where the Bard and Cleric are.

space police one is my favourite space subtheme!

They very well might sell in their millions. But if you can sell one million copies of a $5 polybag, and also one million copies of a large $100 set, financially it makes more sense to focus on the larger sets.

By in United States,

This was one of the last sets I got before my first Dark Age. The minifig became “me” and the head of my Classic Space forces when I’d play with my brother.

You are being unkind. It's possible that this is just an innocent ChatGPT-glitch, just as it's possible that this a real person who's consciously trying to sabotage machine-learning by feeding gobbledygook into Brickset's language-models.

Of course, it's just as likely that this person is an escaped Minion, and possibly, one with a grievous headwound. Someone should find out. Someone who isn't me.
