By in Turkey,

I can't make myself get any of these micro builds. Whenever I get it as a gift, they go straight to the parts bin.

By in Netherlands,

You've heard of big grey triangle, so get ready for:

Small grey triangle!

As someone who owns 4492, I can tell you this one is probably just as riveting to build, if not less so. As in... you build a basic shape in gray. At least this one gets closer to the shape of the thing. And at least this one also doesn't do what the big grey triangles do and so isn't hundreds of euros and takes up a small table.

And... is about the same size as this set.

I don't know why I have an urge to add a steering wheel and spaceman to recreate some classic space.

The Darth Maul box art is rather timely, innit?

Nah its actually pretty sizeable. Most people bought it as an Imperial sampler pack (don't believe me? check the Minifigures!) but the build is also quite nice, sturdy, and compact, with enough detail to be recognizable without ungodly amounts of greebling...

I think it’s one of those cases where size doesn’t matter. Take the 2006 Star Destroyer. Taking away nostalgia it’s really not a good set, especially by today’s standards. Fragility, gaps on the bridge, the only thing the set has going for it is the size. I would not want Lego to sacrifice all the amazing details and structural integrity just to have a Star Destroyer that takes up more space on my shelf (also the 2024 ISD is only a few studs smaller than the 2014 ISD it’s not a significant downsize). "

I understand where you're coming from, but in this case the smaller sets don't make sense for most kids. Everything you say about the older version is true. Yet, it still offers much better interior play value. It's got a launch bay and a Vader helmet cleaner.

More importantly, most kids want to have a 'battle.' The new version can't chase the Aluminum Falcon. It would be like a little brother chasing a big brother. The Falcons are all too big compared to the lil' Starry Westroyer. If you go down to the midi Falcon, then you lose minifig compatibility.

Size matters. Play matters. It's fine to play with on its own. However, the new destroyer simply doesn't fit with the rest of the collection. The kids think it's silly. You need a intimidating Star Destroyer to chase down the heroes. The new one can't do the job.

I think they make those in Malta. They're highly sought after collectibles.
