Today's random set is 3201 Living Room, released during 1997. It's one of 10 Scala sets produced that year. It contains 31 pieces and 1 minifig.

It's owned by 70 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $61.60, or eBay.

Is it just me or is her hair bigger than the rest of the living room?

I guess even the late 90s were still the 80s with that hair.

Pretty sure that's the Smoke Monster from Lost.

On Earth-2, this iteration of Scala was such a smashing success that Lego pivoted towards fashion dolls and displaced Mattel as the world's largest toymaker by outcompeting Barbie. On Earth-2, sealed copies of this set go for five thousand dollars on StockX.

To paraphrase (book) Samwise Gamgee:

“Living room? If this is a living room, then one wall and no roof make a house.”

I went to look at the minifig entry, and that is how I learned that Bricklink (and, by extension, Brickset( has entries for both clothed and unclothed versions of Scala dolls. Interestingly, several of them (some clothed, some unclothed) say "Appears In 0 sets."

Are you referring to her doing yoga?

At least this one has clothes on.

See, I took that picture to mean her hair was just too heavy for her body to support and she collapsed.

By in Netherlands,

1997 Scala is... a vibe. It feels like Christian 'My Dad' Christiansen could pop up any moment with his 'gifts'.

Especially because this living room isn't fortified with Cristian-repelling walls.

Looking at that table... he might already been here. As that looks an awful lot like his flowers! And he might not have quite left yet!

Btw, the parts here are interesting, as always. The part used as a cat for minifigs is a proper kitten here, as in Belville. I don't quite know whether the larger cat debuted in Belville first, but that's another part shared between the two. The 'alternate build' that uses half of the coffee table and the pillow as a footrest is also interesting. And then there's the wonderfully Scala 1997 colors.

By in United Kingdom,

That’s a very charitable definition of “room” given it seems to have no walls and be sat in the middle of a field

What most people don't know is that all those unclothed dolls were designed for the unreleased set 3218 "Scala Sauna" (Finland store exclusive).
;-)

I'm shocked this is late-90s, everything about it screams 70s.

The bigger the hair the closer to god, or something.

That fits with the 20 cycle of stuff being cool, just like the 60s were cool in the 80s.

The bigger the hair, the more severe the heatstroke, and the greater need for proper ventilation to prevent VOC-related health complications.

I've noticed that cycle, too, but what really jumped out to me was the huge hair (90s hair was flat), and the romance-novel-looking painting. Even what she's doing--sitting reading books, brushing her hair--feels very dated for the 90s.

It’s nice that she got her cats a television to enjoy, while she brushes her hair and waits for that cordless phone to ring.

Ah yes, The Grand List Of Console Role Playing Game Clichés. https://project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html TV Tropes created their own version: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/JustForFun/ConsoleRPGClichesTheTVTropesVersion"

I have never felt closer to you than I do today. It's probably the hair.

The last time I saw hair that big it was on top of Phil Spector at his trial.
