Review: 40881 Supply Llama & Fishstick
Posted by SetToBuild,If you thought LEGO had too many themes and IP partnerships, Fortnite is in another league with a total of over 2500 skins in the game.
However, there is still a lot of mileage within their in-house character roster that LEGO hasn’t scratched the surface of. While we’ve seen a few versions of the Supply Llama, this is Fishstick’s first outing in the brick.
Summary
40881 Supply Llama & Fishstick, 300 pieces.
£19.99 / $24.99 / €24.99 | 6.7p, 8.3c, 8.3c per piece.

Completed Model
Fishstick is another strange yet long-standing character or skin in Fortnite. This gormless fish-headed humanoid has seen great success—apparently, over 2.1 million users have worn it over the past few years.
His scaly skin is illustrated well with exposed studs, and his silly smile is depicted with the only printed element in the set. A successful integration of two 1x1s with bar in his chin illustrates the straps holding down his hat, which is a great detail.
Jumper plates are used to offset slope elements and cleverly centre the cap of Fishstick’s hat. Also, I love the technique using the saucer to create large, cartoonish eyes while keeping the traditional Brickheadz eyes as the pupils.
In Fortnite, Supply Llamas are essentially piñata-like caches of loot that explode when petted by the player. They deploy an array of items and power-ups for players to utilise on their adventure.
So far, we’ve seen a large Supply Llama set and a minifig-scale version, so it’s interesting to see something in between. The distinct colour scheme, startled eyes and prominent underbite are all present atop a tiny chibi-like body.
A hollow structure bulks out the llama to expand beyond the standard Brickheadz format. Since there isn’t much internal structure, a lot of the piece count for the set has gone to 1x1s that decorate the surface. Sadly, the hatches don’t open, and there is no loot inside.
The little legs are created using inverted 1x2 slopes, a simple yet effective solution.
The Supply Llama’s stand reflects the character’s four legs, resulting in a Llama-like face. In place of the top 2x4 tile, a 1x4 tile with a pair of 1x2 tiles as elongated llama ears might have expressed that even further.
An extra saucer and a brown stud with bar are all that’s particularly useful among the spares.
Conclusion
Both characters are as charming as ever and have championed the simplified Brickheadz format. Similar to sets like 40803 Optimus Prime Robot & Vehicle, it’s fun to see forms that break the standard mould. Plus, we got to see Fortnite’s famous slack-jawed llama in a new size. We hope to see its own minifig-scale mould someday!

What about the eyes?
These fortnite brickheadz are annoying because in each set there's one I want and one I don't.
Looks pretty good but BrickHeadz I've never heard of need to be Insiders or GWPs to interest me!

that's how they getcha!
These are so much fun!
They should have printed that up arrow on the llamas satchel tile.
Brickheadz has a huge 25% price increase I hear no one about.

You could argue that with BRICKHEADZ, the eyes being printed are expected, so it's not something you wonder about like other elements.

Leave it to LEGO to normalize RRP increases on active products.
It’s concerning when it becomes difficult to discern the differences between LEGO principles and Ferengi rules of acquisition…
Rule 1: Once you have their money, you never give it back.
Rule 9: Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.
Rule 10: Greed is eternal.
Rule 13: Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.
Rule 19: Satisfaction is not guaranteed.
Rule 22: A wise man can hear profit in the wind.
Rule 41: Profit is its own reward.
Rule 52: Never ask when you can take.

I'm not usually one to jump on the "dumping on Lego" bandwagon, but I love a good Star Trek reference, so I'll point out that you're forgetting Rule 95: Expand or die.

Not in the UK, at least. This two pack is roughly the same price as two standard BrickHeadz, so for us this is a reasonable deal. Maybe not the best (you'd expect a small discount for two in one box), but reasonable.
I quite like this set but only for Fishstick. The llama is alright but I just want Fishstick :D

Maybe they meant the only unique printed element? The eyes are used in other sets.

Nice to be able to get a Fortnite Brickheadz that is not a GWP nor an Insider Reward :)
