Oh yeah, randomly waking up after an hour of sleep was definitely worth this. I don't even have notifications on, but somehow my body knew. It betrayed me.

Back when this set was made, it was huge.

These days, we've crossed that line by several times.

GREAT GOOGLELY-MOOGLELY...I had all but forgot about this...set, yeah going with that...:). Closest I ever got to this amount of Lego parts; was buying 2 10704: Creative Box, so 1800 parts...although I might be disqualified; I didn't buy 'em at the same time...:)

This set came out three years after 10030, and the same year as 10143.

I swear I've seen this one in folders before back then, perhaps even at a weird place like the Praxis tool supply chain. It might have been something else though, as these Creator sets can look alike. I should look it up in my collection of folder cutouts I made at the time.

And before you tell me it probably wasn't Praxis of all places, I also saw 8759 Battle of Metru Nui sold there. Both in the folder and in the actual store. So who knows. Why it was there I have no clue. The mid 2000s were a different time when lego could pop up in many a store.

And bear in mind, this set isn't full of tiny 1x1 plate sized bits, but full of 2x4 and larger bricks! Back then piece count meant something else...

You will always be XXL in my heart, 2000 tube!

I mean, 2000 was a pretty good year but I don’t think we need it in XXL form. Though I’d take it over some of our more recent calendar entries…

By in Germany,

Not full of today's 1x1 plates but chock full of useful parts you can actually build something creative with.
Felt really strange to see this set, like from an off-brand, but, alas, those were the actual times.

Once you pop, you can't stop...

All basic bricks and slopes, and lots of them.
Happy times.

The only thing I use 2x4 bricks to build these days is packing material for my MOCs.

So is there an XXL 200 Stud?

The way some people talk, you'd think that small pieces are only something Lego started doing recently so they can make a small model and claim that it has a bunch of pieces. But just to use one example, the 1x1 round has been around (pun not intended, but embraced) since 1980! (Same year I came out.) And I can think of some models from my childhood that would be poorer without those small detail parts.

"Same year I came out" It's been quite a while, surely your arm and leg printing have increased your resale value exponentially!
