The F1 sets just don't end, do they? Just so many. I'm sure it's cool if you're into F1, but as someone that has never had much of an interest in cars, let alone racing, I've had my fill of F1 cars. I know it's harsh to hold a set from 2000 against this overload, but you know, I'm kind of done.

On the other hand, if you're not a fan of stickers, this set has you covered...in the worst way possible.

Unlike yesterday's Technic RSotD, this one definitely needs roads.

It's kind of unsettling, to me, that there's just a head with a helmet, sitting there on top of the car's body.

Jango Fett's armor was silver!

You're right, they CG'd in a driver! This is false advertising!

Looks like an unbranded Mclaren.

One of Lego’s best. A great build if you ever get the chance. The way the engine cover pops softly is sooo satisfying.

An outstanding set. Spring mounting was innovative, the (smootly, softly) opening back cover is so satisfying, printed wheels, silver panels, included B-set, stunning and free C-set from Nathanael Kuipers - this set has it all. Glad I could aquire it so many years ago. Still sourceable today for quite surprising low prices.

I had its successor 8461.
One of the few sets I got during my dark ages. I think I got only about five sets during those years, one other being 7153, which I got as a Christmas present oddly enough, even though I never wished for it at the time. Still happy though these days that I have both of the above.

Are you really champion if you’re in silver? Surely you want gold!

By in Netherlands,

This one's really cool. Both as a technic set and as a 2000s silver paneled set.
And the best part is that it's not tied to any specific real world car and just focusses on cool functions over 'accuracy'.

Compared to today's technic F1s the functions seem on par, but at the time some were revolutionary and the air rod opening engine cover hasn't been done since (outside if doors for a 2001 supercar). And the funtions are all clearly visible whilst it's still finished up with panels. Its chassis is strong too as that uses studded technic!

Here's an overview of the set and its functions:

Back in 1996, I believe that’s what track star Michael Johnson told Nike. They wanted to make shoes out of a new material that was naturally silver, and he made them change the color to gold because silver is for second place.

For the longest time, until I discovered this sites instruction archive, I thought this set came with a decorative helmet that got plugged into the cockpit area... I felt so embarrassed when I found out it didn't.
