Random set of the day: Street Crew

Today's random set is 605 Street Crew, released during 1978. It's one of 36 Town sets produced that year. It contains 18 pieces and 1 minifig.
It's owned by 1,089 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at Brick Owl, BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $174.70, or eBay.

That high vis vest looks more like armour.

Also, what a time period for Lego: trying to figure (he wrote w/irony) where the newly created Minifigure 'fit' into the Lego line, especially 'Town' (which would later grow to 'City')...I mean: sets where figs could get in their vehicle, ones where they couldn't, and even vehicles sans operators all-togeth...am, no, not up for an 'Airplane' reference (:D). I guess it took the next couple of years for Lego to realize with 'Town' what 'Space'...whoops, SPAAAACE...better already did: operatable vehicles:)

With that tabard being more like a breastplate and a broom to swing around like a sword, how often do we reckon this guy pretends to be a knight?
I was always fascinated by those vests but never got one.

An interesting early Town System set. Probably would have been a very small box set priced around $1.99 (US). I will hazard a guess that this set may not have been available in the US in 1978. I do have the version 542 Street Crew from 1979 (original price $3.42).

Such a cute set. The tree alone makes it a nice deal if you could get one :)

Not so many pieces but still everything you need from such a set and a great addition to every Lego city.
I'm just now realizing that the trees we put on club layouts use twice as many parts as this whole set contains, and that's not even counting the planter box they sit in.
