Love Unikitty, she's the best character in the LEGO Movies. Watched her show for a bit, but lost track and gave up. Just not the same without the actual bricks to see how creative you can get with her movements, and Alison Brie does have the better voice for the character. I just love her optimism with that boiling rage underneath. She's fun to watch. Also this was peak Brony days, and like, they fused a cat with a unicorn, she just spoke to me.

"Here in Cloud Cuckoo Land, there are no rules: There's no government, no baby sitters, no bedtimes, no frowny faces, no bushy mustaches, and no negativity of any kind."
"You just said the word "no" like a thousand times."
"And there's also no consistency."

By in New Zealand,

This is a 2 in 1 set. There is the main build pictured here and then the alternate build which involves dropping the set on the floor to recreate the scene where cloud cuckoo land is destroyed.

It's being erased from existence! There used to be four red voodoo balls...

While the build itself was a bit meh, the Cloud Cuckoo Land scene in the movie was awesome and getting Unikitty in such a cheap set was grand.

By in Australia,

I remember the palace in the actual movie being much grander than this dinky little set.

Having said that, this was the first "Lego Movie" set I bought. I just thought it was super-cute and I loved all the colours.

Man, some days I wish I got some of these LEGO Movie sets.

Huh, that's weird, I never noticed that. The fourth voodoo ball is mostly blotted out in the white-background image because that's where the 'E' in 'The LEGO MOVIE' logo covers it up on the box art. Does that mean they forgot to save their pictures of the model (or the pictures got deleted) and had to reverse-photoshop the box art to get the white-background image? I suppose that might explain why there are no other alternate images for this set, whereas all the other TLM sets had several. Most curious....

By in Philippines,

I loved this set! It felt like a pastel flavored "Classic" type set that doubled as a movie location. Really fun how Emmett, Wyldstyle, and the robot dude feel like they're invading from a different genre.

Woah hey, should we be seeing this at without giving the secret knock first?

Fun little set. Many years after retirement I remember finding 3 of these on a shelf in a supermarket. Maybe 2018 or so, can’t really remember but they definitely had some dust on top. So I had to buy them all. 2 boxed, 1 built.

TLM was so silly, so peak 2014. Can you imagine a businessman becoming a president, running the country as though it was a business, actively attacking his own citizens if they're a bit too colourful or quirky? Imagine that president forcing his citizens to become stagnant, to return a way of life where everything is forever conserved, unmoving, incapable of growth. Imagine that president declaring war on everything that does not conform to that one rigid, unchanging, monolithic vision.

I'm so happy President Business gave all of that up in order to pursue his true passion, golf. Happy endings for everyone, and everything is awesome, just like in real life.

Lovely set. Sure, it looks a bit random and is a bit of a color overload, but that's accurate to the location in the film and it makes for a unique set. I'm glad it also wasn't huge, which was a mistake made with some of the quirky location sets from TLM2. At this size it gets the point across and provides you with some fun minifigs for a good price.

I like how despite its 'randomness' it actually is well balanced visually and still works as a cohesive playset model. My only gripe is that the top platform is a bit empty if Unikitty isn't standing there, although the wall panel at least had a window to make it look like this is the outside of a building.

I wonder why they changed that flower piece's hollow stud into a solid stud. It removes a connection. I really don't think it's to keep it sturdy because it's just a cylinder piece with petals.

I think I remember hearing about that change causing a problem, because of a set requiring the hollow stud of the old version, but some copies shipping with the closed-stud version.

Double 2014 today. That was a pretty big year for me, Lego-wise - I had this set, and Mr. Burns twice over.

Actually, this exact build (or nearly exact) does appear in the movie, albeit not in place you would think! Towards the end of the movie, when the father and son are talking, the father mentions that the boy has his own bricks, and points towards a tote of colorful Lego with this build sitting on top of them.

I went and saw this film as an adult in theaters with my father back in 2014. When Lord Business showed up with his glue and started trying to keep everything together because his son was "Messing with his stuff" my dad leaned over and said (direct quote here) "No matter what you think, that's not me because I never used glue". Needless to say, while I was growing up he was very much Lord Business except without the redemption arc... everything I ever built was either torn apart if it wasn't good enough or taken from me if he wanted it because they were his parts and I was only "borrowing them". It was a fun childhood for sure.

ANYWAY: Unikitty and Benny are my favorite characters, and I had this set once.

I won't go over my experience of first seeing The Lego Movie again, at least not twice in a single week; but as a brief addendum, the one from this set is the Unikitty 'minifigure' who I mentioned as having bought off eBay after seeing the film! I did at the time consider buying the whole set, since it wasn't a hugely expensive one; but, still more or less in my dark age, I just wasn't that interested in the rest of it, only the one character, so I settled on just getting her loose. Meaning that, aside from the DVD and video game, she's the only piece of Lego Movie merchadise that I own.

She's cute and fun, I like her ^^

She's also currently hanging out in the lobby of my 10297 Boutique Hotel, since the other day I shuffled up some of the minifigure scenes that are taking place in / around it; it's the biggest Lego building I have, so I like to do that from time to time to make it feel 'active'. Honestly right now she's probably thinking how bland it looks compared to her tastes, and is no doubt plotting a crazy redecoration of the whole building...!

After the original Bag-End, I thought they were changing the design ID numbers when modifying the part, so they wouldn’t have problems like that anymore. But apparently flipping the “substitute X for Y” switch is just as easy to do without giving it any thought as changing the part while keeping the original design ID.

Yeah, I caught that. But with as many times as I've seen the movie, you'd expect that.

Hey, anyone else notice that in the main stock photo, part of one of the red spheres is cut off? Looks like it lines-up with where the logo covers it on the box art!

Don't forget that the president had a super secret police force with a large budget for flashy weapons and vehicles.

By in United States,

I might be biased, but the 2014 wave of The Lego Movie sets were the best play theme Lego ever made. Great sets for a timeless movie that's still eerily relevant today.

I remember crashing out because I wanted this set but I was too afraid to ask my dad for it because it looked feminine. I almost never got it until my brother chose it because he didn’t care as much. Toxic masculinity is a plague and it cannot be allowed to exist.
