Royalty, they're just like the rest of us.

That poor dolphin, with its tail just stapled to that...why exactly does an underwater carriage need wheels again?

Thought it said Dolphin Carnage there for a second

They actually can be pretty vicious. Bottlenose dolphins have been observed murdering other species of dolphins for fun.

The more you look the worse it gets. I feel like an underwater carriage would be designed completely differently to a land carriage. Water physics would mean it should be fully enclosed or at least fully front shielded, otherwise passengers will just get pulled off by water resistance.

For “take off” and “landing” I suppose, if such terms apply to underwater travel. You’ve already strapped a sapient creature into it to pull it, they might as well not have to drag it along the seabed to get going. Easier on carriage and dolphin

I like how the tiara is just tossed into the bucket. Whatever.

By in Australia,

If that carriage is strapped to a dolphin who is pulling it along the seabed...

Everyone seems to be glossing over the fact that dolphins aren't fish, they're mammals. Which means, they still need to surface to breathe, you know, at fairly regular intervals.

I wonder how many dolphins Ariel goes through, a day.

Reminds me of late 90s early 2000 sets that just threw in anything in the factory parts inventory.

By in Netherlands,

Ah yes, dolphin carriage physics in a 4+ set. 'I hope someone got fired for that blunder' level.

Anyway, it's a bit disheartening how this set could have been from any point from the last decade (although Ariel had slight updates culminating in this year's weirdly tanned figure). I was walking over flea markets the other day and almost everything was the exact same few themes we have today. Mosly Friends, City, Creator and a whole bunch of licenses Marvel. Some Ninjago too. Atleast someone sold a Dreamzzz set...

Anyway, for a 4+ set this has some nice underwater themed parts, no too large and specialized parts (thankfully no car chassis element) that would be difficult to use, elsewhere except maybe the wall panel and cart element. And this one wasn't huge so its parts, were more regular sized.

By in Netherlands,

Unpopular takeaways from The Little Mermaid:

- Triton's badge of office is a giant fork, which he carries with him everywhere he goes. Ariel has zero excuse not to know what a fork is, although it is very well possible that Triton uses his trident to comb his luxurious beard. I know I would.

- Triton is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, making Triton a nephew to Zeus. This makes Triton and Hercules/Herakles cousins, and it would makes Ariel and her sisters cousins-once-removed to Herakles.

- Apparently, sirens can make bargains to adapt to the land. If they do, they move in complete silence while stalking their prey. When a siren stops singing, you should be concerned.

The level of "well, actually..." comments with this ludicrous set is on par with what I expected from Brickset. :'-)

Ariel is drowning dolphins because she's too lazy to swim twenty feet! This is a serious issue! Someone needs to alert Greenpeace!

The wheels thing was the first thing I thought of.

Yeah, those things are a-holes.

It may have been one of her land treasures. And I just now realized that Ariel and WALL-E have something in common.

By that logic, if you've seen a sword used, you should know what a butter knife is used for.

"- Triton is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, making Triton a nephew to Zeus. This makes Triton and Hercules/Herakles cousins, and it would makes Ariel and her sisters cousins-once-removed to Herakles."

Totally my headcanon now. Lets see if we can drag any other Disney movies in!

Uhhh, The Moon-Spinners take place in Greece? They don’t really dip into Greek mythology that often, but there might be other stuff in Fantasia.

Since it looks like I missed a RSotD, let me just say, it's not just in https://brickset.com/article/131445/random-set-of-the-day-ultimate-aaron but for Aaron's crossbow weapon in general. I always thought that would make a great Minifigure-scale Zamor Launcher for BIONICLE. Despite 2006 being the year with the most effort put into Bonk minifigs, they still didn't bother to give them accurate weapons, even the year's signature play feature weapon. I've never tried it myself, so maybe it wouldn't look as good as I'm imagining, but I think it'd be awesome.

Not even in the flimsiest of Kingdom Hearts cross-overs or spin-offs, do we ever see Hades and Pluto in the same room together...

I just found out about a play called The Frogs, where a few Greek mythological characters, and Pluto, appear. Remembering back to when one of my high school text books included “Hercules” in a segment on Greek mythology, all I could think was, “But Pluto’s the Roman god!” I mean, it’s even supported by the names of the nine planets. Except it turns out they stopped calling him Hades at some point, and started calling him “ Plouton” instead. And the Roman equivalent was either Dis Pater or Orcus. So bent that Hades and Pluto are the same guy, anytime he appears in the underworld, that’s Pluto in Hades.

It’s what we call a “euphemistic nickname” intended so you can refer to someone in a less conspicuous and more complimentary manner. Plouton means “the wealthy one” and refers to how all gold and jewels come from Hades’ realm beneath the earth. I believe his wife Persephone also got one (Kore, the Maiden) as do the Furies (Eumenides, the Kindly Ones). Since all souls were destined for Hades in Greek myth the last thing you wanted was to come before him and have him say “so I heard you been talking smack about me” so a friendly nickname was a handy way of staying on his good side. It’s probably also why Hades comes off as a much nicer guy than, say, Zeus or Poseidon by our modern sensibilities, with a lot less abuse and infidelities; the Greeks didn’t want to talk about him at all so he gets fewer chances to look like a tool.

This isn’t only limited to Greek myth; the word bear comes from a word meaning “Brown One” and outright replaced the original Germanic term for the beasts for similar reasons of believing speaking its name got its attention. And no one wants a party crashing bear

Do you mean https://brickset.com/parts/6135158/wall-1x6x6-w-window-no-10 in particular, or just the mold? Because the mold was also used in 10768: https://brickset.com/parts/design-50137"

41398, 10751, & 10675 in white, 10758 in light-bley, 60346 in red, 10734 in tan, 41723 in medium-azure, 10672 in dark-azure, and 10724 in blue, for unprinted versions. It has been released in 18 different prints so far, but somehow Bricklink seems to have skipped 15627pr0016 in the numbering scheme. So, it gets around a fair bit, and appears to be _the_ window of choice for the 4+ line, when you don't want a whole wall attached to it.
