By in United States,

If I'm correct about owning this, it's the _only_ Space Police I anything that I own. I'd say it might be the only M-Tron anything as well, but I know I picked up a few of the recent CMFs.

It literally doesn't get better than this.

Star Wars could never.

Too much awesome for one pack--and yet here we are.

By in Croatia,

Thiese are my classic space minifigures!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Had it and still love it.

By in United States,

Bought six of these when they were new and yes, I kept the boxes. Apparently I shouldn't have opened them. Oh well. Bought 6 of the 6703 as well.

By in United States,

Certified astrobussin assortment. If they sold this today for the price of like 1-2 polybags I'd 100% pick it up.

A shame the actual price it’s going for will cost you 1-2 organs XD

A minifig pack? A SPACE minifig pack? Yeeeeees!

I'm not a minifig guy for the most part, but sets like these allowed you to quickly build up a galactic community, complete with many accesories. And they were one of the few sets that gave you multiple factions at once. In fact, these are the best evidence of the factions cohabiting the same universe and being from the same space and time. In this case the inclusion of both Blacktron and Blacktron Future Generation is interesting to see.
Btw the other pieces showing this cohabitation are the SPI and SPII sets and the catalogs. And some cases like the Unitron monorail including a Spyrius figure.

That's one of the things I love about Space. All the factions are connected in a shared world. And as the sets themselves show, you can have multiple of the same fig. They'd be different people in the same outfit. So that makes it very fun to amass a group of sets or figures.

By in Germany,

Love the theme!
This are my favorite space sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's a fun little nostalgia hit.

I have it, only ever had one, but wish I had more. Loved SP1 and M:Tron.

It is odd that they had two flavors of Blacktron, but still a fun set.

By in Poland,

Both blacktron designs in one set. Whats the lore here?

Gravatar
By in United States,

When Lego designers sat down to make a minifigure pack, then made it BETTER.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder what that big power wrench is for. Also, is that part broken? It seems one of the handles is missing.

6702 would like to have a word...

Then again, each of the Space minifig packs (6701 to 6705) is awesome in its own right.

I think it mostly has to do with the simple fact that these were the only Space minifigs in production at the time: Blacktron II was newly introduced that year, M-Tron sets were released the year prior, and Space Police sets from 1989 were still on the shelves, some of which included the original Blacktron minifigs. Since the Futuron sets had retired, they were limited to only four torsos, so I think they threw OG Blacktron in there to mix things up a bit. Can't complain there.

The OG Blacktron is a time traveler.

It's there, the camera angle just sort of hides it.

They're all awesome, but if I could have any one of them, then yeah, it'd be 6702, since black is the only color of Classic Spaceman I don't have.

Not really though. These things don't have bent handles and at this angle, the other handle should absolutely be visible.

It doesn't involve magnets, so dude clearly hasn't a clue what he's doing.

The chainsaw didn't yet exist at this point. Even though it's the future.

It hitherto meanwhile didn't yet exist anymore.

Wish I had gotten one as a kid. Such a great pack. I think there was a better Castle one, but only just.

Two. If your airtanks function as a jetpack, you’re in serious trouble. Speaking of, it is a bit concerning that anyone who wants to use a jetpack…on the moon…in a hard vacuum…has to first shuck their airtanks before being able to strap into the jetpack. And they don’t even have canned oxygen. How far can you get with one of those rigs before you asphyxiate?

Gravatar

why don't they release sets like this anymore?

Yeah, looking at it again, you're right. I do wonder what happened there.

this is rather rare though. I can't think of any other example of a previous and new figure in the same set!

This toy is so unrealistic. Their plastic lungs will asphyxiate! 0/10

Anyway, my attempt at an imaginative answer would be something like that they let a bit of air out to fly up in zero G or something. And they have more than enough in those tanks because it's soft sci-fi. They just shouldn't zip around all day and they'd be fine.
Or it's a particle called Biodium and it's found on Mars in trans neon orange meteors.

By in United States,

The vintage battle packs have the same market value as the modern battle packs!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Much better UK name:
"The United Galaxies"

Apparently this was an organization in the canon of Lego Space, mentioned a few times throughout the catalogues, but it's never been really clear who's part of it.

Also nice how it links so many themes together, if you include 6703 and 6897 (6957 or 6984) you get the full range from Futuron to SP II.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I wish they would remake this set. One of the best minifig packs ever.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Glad to have one of these.
80s to late 90s was the best time for Space Sets.
