There's been quite a few 2016 sets this year. I know the list pulls from things 10 years out and earlier, but there's still around 40 other years to chose from, and Huwbot keeps picking a lot of more recent stuff than I remember noticing before.

Older years are obviously depleted, having been available for years prior. And at some point, the number of new sets released in a year started ramping up. Combine the two, and it really does create a situation that favors the most recent years more than you might think.

Why is the set name telling a lighthouse to point?

Well it can’t speak to tell people where to go now can it?

It's a whale of a tale, I swear by my tattoo.

By in South Korea,

It's a deep cut that the houseboat build is one of the vehicles in LEGO 2K Drive, RIP to that game...

By in Poland,

Nah it would NOT cost 80$ Haunted Mansion (3in1) is overpriced and it costs $89.99 with almost double the pieces and figs

By in Poland,

This was my first and last lego lighthouse. Uninspiring build that went straight to the parts bin. I didn't even try the other 2 alt builds.

A great forerunner to 21335 and especially good as I got it for next to nothing in an eBay bulk buy!

By in Netherlands,

A good successor of 5770 Lighthouse Island and the polybag 30023 Lighthouse. That said, this was the start of Creator trying to be less focussed on the building aspect (that sometimes had minifigs) and more on making minifig-focussed playsets that don't fit in City or other themes particularly well. Compare the focus on just a lighthouse tower and hut in 5770 to this set having almost more focus on the house, rockwork, pier and orca. All those parts make alternate building more versatile but decrease the quantity of related parts, which in a sense make alternate builds more fiddly as you have a lot of 'other' parts you need to find a use for.
That said, it's a cute set.

Btw, this set is very modular. The tops of the roofs, the sides of the bases and each 'ring' of the lighthouse is removable and can be rearranged. That's some fun set design! On the images tab on the set's page you can see some configurations, including one where the lighthouse tower is placed on top of one half of the building to make it significantly more imposing!

By in Ireland,

I like lighthouses so I have this, 5770 and 21335. I originally had the Scooby Doo lighthouse but ended up selling it.

The lighthouse has a point. The narwhal does not. It is a pointless creature.

By in United Kingdom,

Good parts pack, although the alternative boat and single hut builds are a bit simple using less than half the pieces. Strange as the far earlier 5770 had a whole lifeboat station going on.

Must be a female narwhal, then.

A classic Disney film quote (in this case '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea') to start the day is always fun... though there are some obvious exceptions to that rule. *glares at 'Song of the South' in disgust*

Also, I owned a copy of this set.

31108 Caravan Family Holiday had quite an interesting lighthouse build , but it's much smaller then this , and as an alternative build, left a lot of parts.

The window frames on the bottom are a bit weird but they worked with parts they had, and at last the green slopes make sense as a seaweed covered seawall.

31118 Surfer Beach House had quite a fun looking lighthouse as well , but less detailed, and obviously had no red/white bricks to work with, still was a great set in terms of value and the builds/parts it offers.

What does a lighthouse have to do with vampires? Or eclipses, for that matter?

"Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" is a classic Disney song, though. if you can separate the art from... the other art, I guess?

Besides, this set isn't boring.

This is an illuminating point.
