By in United States,

Anyone else really want that antenna to be going through the rack?

It may not be practical in universe, but it would just be satisfying to see, and have given kids a neat connection they may not have known about.

Ya like dune buggies?

Sure, everyone likes dune buggies.

I didn't know that Jang drives a dune buggy-

The orientation of the blue vehicle almost makes it look like it does, in an Escher-like way. However, this set has the closed-studs version of that part, so it's not even possible.

Oh I have this one. It's such a fun little set, the buggy build is so cute.

By in Turkey,

Dune buggy itself is ebough, the rest is just extra cost. I've built one with my spares but I think I'll build another just for fun.

By in Netherlands,

I don't remember this one at all. I guess that for me by City's 10th year a simple vehicle and trailer set wasn't enough to be memorable to me.

Gold wheels though? Might be useful for Batman '06 customs. And the wheels on the trailer look hilariously tiny for the huge wheels on the front vehicle.

The female minifig looks like Claire from 70751 The Temple of Airjitzu, who has sand blue pants and hair tied in a ponytail. But I believe it's the same torso, face and hair color.

Brilliant looking set... Would buy it today if it was current!

And in true Hollywood-fashion, this buggy trailer looks nothing like any of the actual Dune-movies.

If this is just the trailer I can’t wait for the whole movie

By in United Kingdom,

Never seen before but looks like a fun set. Lots of useful pieces and could make some weird 12 wheeled mocs. Like the ol school rules of whoever graps the helmet first is the driver and the other one is left holding the spanner. Probably the toughest challenge for the buggy is getting onto the trailer as the ramps are a bit short.

By in United States,

There was a lot going on this year for City. This set was interesting, but it was one of the few automobile sets where neither car had doors. I only got a copy later as the annual clearance hit.

The only dune buggy I would ever buy as a LEGO set is Speed Buggy (from the '70's cartoon of the same name). Sadly, much like another living car named Herbie, I don't see that ever happening...

Those minifigs look nothing like Paul Atreidis and Chani.
Very disappointing.

So I’m not the only one who remembers that minifigure!

You could do it with the old version of the part. There used to be sets that relied on that connection.

Incredibly, they changed the mold before retiring sets that relied on the connection. When I was young, I returned a copy of 6042 because it came with the new part and was unbuildable. A jail wagon is a lot less fun when the criminal can just walk right out the side.

It’s not the only time they did that. I know the long umbrella stand got retired in favor of the short one before 10179 retired, but at least you could still construct the cockpit. The windshield spars just didn’t reach far enough to rest on anything at the top. The first Bag-End, however, used a pair of 1x6x2 arch bricks to form the large round window, and they added an interior rib that prevented you from being able to fit the actual window assembly inside. After that, they changed their policy such that any major revision (i.e. more than just where the gate marks are located), they retire the old design number and assign a new one. I mean, they’ll still assign that element as a sub when that happens, but at least it makes someone think about the possibility that structural changes may have just created a problem for extant set designs.

Huwbot must have a penchant for dune buggies, as we had 41010 last week, and now the City one! I mentioned building this one to accompany the Friends buggy in my previous comment, as both of them would work very well together. The yellow sunset-themed livery is pretty rad, and flames can also be inserted into the exhaust if you want to simulate ridiculous amounts of power!

The SUV isn't too exciting, but looks good with the gold wheels and the hood graphic, not to mention the antenna (I put two on my set). The trailer can also be used to haul other things, including Olivia's buggy. Haven't tried towing it yet, but it should work.
Another good 2010s City set!
