Hey, we're back with Star Wars! And it's only an okay set in my opinion. Even for the time, I found it quite disappointing compared to it's Rebel counterpart, and yet this is the one that got the 20th Anniversary remake and not both together in one box.

Oh well, whatever, happy to see more Star Wars around the same time as the Mando & Grogu movie. By the way, I quite liked the movie.

By in New Zealand,

Such an icon of the theme.

And to those wondering if they should go see the new Mando film, do. It was such a fun adventure, definitely worth going to watch.

By in Canada,

Picked up 7668 at the time. Always regretted not picking this up. Ended up getting 6506627 to correct that mistake!

I had both this and 7668 as a kid. Battle packs are always great but something about that duo was just fantastic. We couldn't afford any of the sets with Vader so the Shadow Troopers made do!

Monday is Actual Star Wars Day, after all.

I mean, don't get me wrong, but while 7668 was popular for introducing the first Rebel Fleet Trooper, this was hands down the star of the show. Stormtroopers were a lot more common throughout the OT, while I think the only three times we saw the RFT were the opening scenes on the Tantive IV, the guard with the rangefinder on Yavin, and the medal ceremony.

@Maxbricks14:
The problem with this film is it really won't mean anything unless you've already watched the series. And the problem with the series is that Disney paywalled it instead of putting it on basic cable. It may be popular with those who've seen it, but not many people have actually seen it. The film is projected to earn just shy of its production budget, worldwide, on a holiday 4-day holiday weekend that kicks off the summer schedule. I expect it will do well with fans of the show, and be largely ignored by everyone else.

@Darth_Savren:
Did you mean 75262? Nothing comes up for 6506627.

By in United States,

I remember getting this specifically for the Shadow Stormtrooper. I had recently learned about them on Wookieepedia, I think. And when I saw this I got it right away.

They (this and 7668) were both good. I have to say I liked 7668 a little more because I remember seeing the craft somewhere (I think it was in the Hoth hanger), but for the $72 it sells for now I should have left one in the box.

By in Turkey,

Nice army building set, get a few and you'l have a formidable unit.

By in United States,

A true classic.

... and one that somehow managed to get even uglier each time they remade it.

You don't really need the show to watch it without being confused, and with the way Disney had marketed it I'm sure families who aren't Star Wars fans will see this as a fun movie to watch with their kids.

By in United Kingdom,

I like the idea of this as like a quick hop transport, the Stormtrooper equivalent of a bus to work. There are bigger carriers for getting them from space to a planet, more heavily armed ones for taking them into the heat of battle, this one just gets four dudes to their shift on guard duty and does it well! That both the remakes of this can’t actually carry that many troopers continually disappoints

By in Germany,

Still up there as one of the best battle pack vehicles, and battle packs in general. Simple, stylish, and useful.

Neither of the remakes can even get close, and it's almost funny how they got worse-looking each time, and have fewer seats. If Lego makes another version, it'll be able to drop one (1) stormtrooper.

By in Netherlands,

A classic. I love that it's lego's own design, meaning some actual creativity went into it. And it's a fun design too, with a deployable 'troop bay' platform at the back. I think the 2024 version is the worst, but the 2019 version is a decent remake. It's just that neither are as elegant as this set. The 2002 cockpit windshield does a lot for it. It reminds me of those round helcopter cockpits for maximim view.

This set and 7620 got me out of my dark ages. Such a cool little set and I still wanna get the remake at some point.

I don't know if the vehicle from 7668 is visible in any of the movies, but I know the one from 8083 can bee seen in the Hoth base in TESB.

I wrote an article about this a few years ago. Lots more Battle Pack vehicles are inspired by something specific than I think most fans realise, including a few with very obscure origins: https://brickset.com/article/65338

I was trying so hard to find that article but for the life of me couldn’t seem to track it down. I’m guessing because it’s around five years old which might as well be a geological epoch in internet time

Firstly, anyone who hasn't watched the series likely isn't invested in the characters, and this looks very much like a movie that's about the characters. Many people won't want to drop into the middle of their story without having first seen what precedes it. There's also the issue of people swearing off any further SW films after the disastrous sequel trilogy. It's going to take some work to get those people to walk back their stance.

Both 7667 and 75262 seat five, although the seating configuration is changed in the latter. Troops are seated back-to-back instead of all forward facing.

By in Canada,

Loved this set. Wish I gad picked up more than 1 at the time, but I was just starting my first job, did exactly have extra cash for army building at the time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Have no idea if or how I could track down the pieces to rebuild this but it’s not even a canon design so I’ll live with it

Gravatar
By in United States,

Loved this set! Great for building an army of Stormtroopers. The Shadowtrooper was previously in a larger set so it was nice to get him here. The design of the dropship itself being freelance is so cool! It looks and functions very well. Newer versions so far of this set don't really compare.
