NINJAGO Titan Mechs gallery and ranking
Posted by CapnRex101,The collection of NINJAGO Titan Mechs started almost accidentally, arguably beginning as long ago as 70737 Titan Mech Battle in 2015, though the seminal 70676 Lloyd's Titan Mech is typically recognised as the series' starting point.
71738 Zane's Titan Mech Battle from 2021 has a claim too, but regardless of when it started, the series has developed over several years and with the launch of 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs this summer, the classic team of ninja is now complete!
I always enjoy posing these mechs together, so I took a few photos of the group and decided to rank them too, ahead of my full review of 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs coming soon.
Titan Mech Ranking
All six Titan Mechs are impressive in their own ways and I would recommend them all, but after handling them again for these group photos and just for fun, I have decided to rank them. Value and any minifigures have not been taken into consideration here, only the actual mechs.
#6 – Jay's Titan Mech
71785 Jay's Titan Mech has a very distinctive and attractive design, with its extremely long legs and multiple swords, but it is clearly the most difficult to work with for posing, in my opinion. The ankle and hip joints are pretty frustrating and greatly limit options for dynamic poses, particularly because the ankles cannot really tilt forward or back.
I would be interested to see the design revisited because its style is appealing and with modern articulation, I can envisage Jay's mech moving towards the top of the ranking. However, it stays at the bottom for now.
#5 – Zane's Titan Mech
These next three are definitely the hardest to rank, as all three are fantastic, although they each have major weaknesses too. I love 71738 Zane's Titan Mech Battle and wanted to rank it higher, but some useful points of articulation are missing, unfortunately. While the addition of articulated knees was a dramatic development in 2021, I miss any kind of bicep or elbow swivel to use with the wrist blades.
On the other hand, the sand blue and white colours look superb together and I love the armour shaping, especially on the shoulders and thighs. The retractable boosters above the ankles are a nice detail too. Ultimately, I think Zane's mech looks excellent and the articulation it does have works nicely, but it feels limited, compared with the other Titan Mechs.
#4 – Lloyd's Titan Mech
As discussed in my review published a couple of months ago, 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech looks fantastic. The proportions and armour shaping are great and I like the size of this mech, larger than most of the others. The articulation is also reasonable, for a model of this size, though the weight of the limbs sometimes overwhelms the joints.
That can make dynamic posing difficult, but even more problematic are the elbows, which only bend about seventy degrees. That kind of limitation is a major issue for a sword-wielding mech and one with a shield that connects to the forearm, hence the middle ranking.
#3 – Nya's Titan Mech
Nya's mech is arguably the blandest of the six in some regards, lacking the dramatic armour or creative weapons of others in the series. However, as you can probably tell, I value articulation highly and the model from 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs is truly incredible from that perspective. Despite its bulky shoulder-mounted thrusters, the mech easily stands on one leg and any pose feels possible.
That said, I do think there was an opportunity to do something more with Nya's Titan Mech. As the Elemental Master of Water, perhaps this vehicle could have included visible water tanks or fold-out propellers, for example. Fortunately, posing can go a long way to disguise the design's relative simplicity.
#2 – Kai's Titan Mech
The other mech from 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs, belonging to Kai, takes second place. Much like Nya's mech, the articulation is brilliant, but I find this model far more visually interesting and the chunky knee armour really appeals to me. Moreover, the wrist blades are striking, especially with some fiery details included between the blades.
Honestly, I have no major criticisms of Kai's Titan Mech, but there is another in the group I find even more impressive.
#1 – Cole's Titan Mech
I described 71821 Cole's Titan Dragon Mech as my favourite of the many LEGO mechs in my review in 2024 and I stand by it today. This is by far the largest and arguably the most visually striking of the six Titan Mechs and the engineering of its joints is quite remarkable, comfortably supporting the substantial weight of the limbs.
The double-jointed elbows in particular are extremely useful, allowing the mech to achieve lots of natural poses that the others struggle with, although Kai and Nya's mechs are not far behind. The rock styling is a fun detail as well, really embracing Cole's status as the Elemental Master of Earth.
I have loved the collection of Titan Mechs so far and it is wonderful to see the classic ninja team completed. However, several new characters have joined the team in Dragons Rising, so I hope the series continues with mechs for Arin, Sora, Wyldfyre and Frak.
Have you been collecting the NINJAGO Titan Mechs and which ones are your favourites? Let us know in the comments.

I guess (aside from LEGO's classification), what is constituting as a Titan Mech? Is it just LEGO's designation? I would figure that 71775 would be considered a Titan Mech if there were other criteria, no?
These wonderful sets just make me think of how much I miss Exo-Force.
Love this little article! Glad to see Cole's mech at the top, that's still one of the few times on this site where a set from a theme that I have no interest in made me stop and click on the review. It's just so incredibly striking.
Great overview and love the ranking!

It's just based on what the sets are called, mostly—several of the ninja have had large mechs that don't get the "titan mech" designation, like last year's Fire Knight Mech for Kai. But Nya's new mech fits more aesthetically and thematically with the others, while 71775 is based more on her Samurai X persona.
Personally, don't see them as a patch on 70615, 70658, 30379 or 70613.
But that's just my opinion......
I do collect them as well, they are the crown jewels of any Lego mech collection, I'd say.
Not owning the Twin Titan Mechs, yet, I'd still say Cole's the best from the bunch. But I like each of them for their unique style.
Together they look like a Gundam poster.
Really wish Cole's titan mech was still available. That and the Source Dragon of Motion will probably be my white whales for a long time.
A Dareth titan mech would be really fun... although now that I'm at Season 6 on my Ninjago rewatch I'm not sure I want one anymore! Crazy how he went from one of the most likable characters to one of the easiest to hate, in just a few episodes...
Dang they look -good- all posed together like that!
I'm not in the Ninjago fandom, but these look great all lined up together!

First off it’s not just based on Lego designation of what is and isn’t. The Samurai X mech and the laid Legends Fire Knight mech are not considered titan mechs first because the proportions and second because of the color schemes. Although all the Titan mechs do vary in color and shape they all share similarities that designate them as the titan mechs.
1. Color.
All the titan mechs as you can probably see have a very signature color scheme, the constants being white and gold. If the mechs you mentioned earlier were supposed to be Titan mechs they’d share the white and gold color scheme.
2. Proportions.
All the titan mechs have a very unique shape/silhouette which is iconic of the titan mechs. It’s hard to put a finger on exactly what makes them all fit so well together but those to reasons are what I feel like Lego is using as the standard for these mechs.

Ah got it, thanks for the clarification!
Sensei Wu should get one, too! :)
I myself am very curious if any of the Mechs will fit in Ninjago City Workshops instead of the yellow one

Did you mean 70632 Quake Mech instead of 30379 Quake Mech?
I love the giant mechs and have all of the ones tagged "Titan Mech" (https://brickset.com/sets/tag-Titan-Mech) except I have not gotten 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech or 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs yet.
Also, shoutout to the OG: 4508 Titan XP :)
Great article! They look awesome together. Can't wait to complete the set.
Cole's mech undoubtedly has the most articulation, but I find the set to be far too large and heavy and the joints too wobbly to be particularly enjoyable. Hot take, but I don't think it's very good as a result. At least not deserving of the praise it receives.
As such, I rank Lloyd's mech higher than Cole's. Feels far more sturdy and more fun to handle. And I overall prefer the design as well.
Still need to get the Twin Mechs. I'll be happy to see the set complete, though I wouldn't mind remakes of Jay's and Zane's. And hopefully we can get Pixal/Samurai X, Arin and Sora in the mix in the future!
Very enjoyable article, thank you @CapnRex101! While it isn't formally a Titan Mech,
71846 The Fire Knight Mech somewhat fits that category too.
I'm really curious how would you rank it with the others and which one do you like more for Kai overall: The Titan or the Knight?
Nice Mech review/post/article!
Wasn't the first Ninjago Mech, this one?!
https://brickset.com/sets/9448-1/Samurai-Mech
70737 is still the best.
Technically 71738, as a remake of the OG Titan Mech 70737, isn't really in the same "Titan Mech" category as the others, although it does fit in fairly well. It just needs some more gold highlights to properly match the aesthetics of the others.
But, my good @CapnRex101, when will the review of the White City of Gondor be upon us? I have been awaiting your thorough analysis.
Did I miss the Minas Tirith review? I've been anxiously awaiting to leverage some puns...like Minus Cashith.

Yes, I did mean 70632.
I'll just go and sit in the corner and think about what I've done!
What a pity the mech 70676 is missing inside this review, it is one of my favourites, even more than its successor 71860. Its MRSP was about 70-75€ here, very affordable compared to the 130€ of the 71860.
Another mech to remember is 71846. Ok, it is a different series, but really a great set.
I’m sticking with the first version of Lloyd’s for now but definitely want to get the new pair to complete the set.
Cool shots! Having just built Cole’s mech, I agree that it’s phenomenal. I’ll have to see if my rankings change once I eventually get around to the final three.
While I’ve heard some calls for remakes of Zane and Jay’s mechs with modern techniques, I hope TLG doesn’t go that route. Given that there are 6 mechs, there will always be new parts and building techniques making the oldest Titan mech “outdated” in comparison to the newer ones, just based on how long it takes for the company to put out 6 massive mechs. I don’t want to limit future sets to just repeats of these 6 ideas.
I’m undecided on if I’d like the line to continue at all. At one point I thought it would be cool to get Titan mechs for Wu, Garmadon, Sora, Arin, etc. But I think it would be nice to bring this line to an end and start a new era of large mech sets instead. Maybe I’m just Titan-meched out after three this year, but even Lee Chi Wing (the designer of the twins) has spoken about the challenge of making the newest renditions fit with the group without retreading old ground.
Either way, I’m curious to see what the designers have in store for 2027 and beyond!

I definitely think the new characters should have something different if they get Titan Mechs - either a different aesthetic/design principle, a function of some sort, or even giving them large vehicles that aren't mechs. (In the Ninjago Movie not everyone had a mech, but the vehicles were still titanic!)
It's too bad Zane's Titan Mech is effectively just an upscaled remake of the build from the 2015 set and has no media role of its own.
It's also sad that Pixal's giant-sized Samurai X Mech and Garmadon's four-armed mech from way back in 2012 never got sets.
I love mechs but I haven't been able to get any of them. The only one I might one day get is the cole one because I'm curious about how well the joints hold up. And it's very poseable and looks epic. I just haven't gotten around to it yet because I don't really collect Ninjago anymore.

If you mean the mech from Crystalized, that was set 71765 Ultra Combo Mech, which incidentally was in Pixal's colors.
And seconded on Garmadon's mech from Season 2. But I'm afraid thst ship has sailed. Twice or perhaps even thrice, with Legacy having come and gone in 2021 and probably also this year too. And besides, if they're going to remake it like they did the new X-2 Charger...

I have no interest in Ninjago, but I just picked up the Twin Titan mechs because of how much they remind me of the two main human mechs from the Golden City wave.
I don't collect Ninjago as a rule, but ever since Zane's Titan Mech came out in 2021 - 71738 - I realised they complemented my 'big robot' interests very very well, so I started picking them up.
My only issue is that the box of the Twin Titan Mechs 71871 is in the same style as the Fire Knight Mech box 71846 but the Fire Knight Mech isn't a Titan.
So should I be getting the Twins to complete the collection, or wait until they get individual mechs? And how does the Fire Knight Mech fit in? They're all of a similar size, but I want to get the definitive versions, not a variant.

For the complete Titan Mech line, you'll need the Twin Titan Mechs, these are Kai's and Nya's official Titan Mechs. Nobody knows if and when we will get another individual mech for them again. The Fire Knight Mech is not a Titan Mech but an old mech owned by one of the former masters of fire, long time ago. I'd still recommend to get the Fire Knight Mech, because it is awesome (the cape, the display stand, the articulation, the color scheme).

The Twins are the conclusion of the Titan Mech collection by all appearances.
The Fire Knight Mech is an outlier, much like 71775. Though similar in style to the Titan Mechs, neither of them is intended to be part of this lineup. Story-wise, the Fire Knight Mech isn’t ever actually depicted as a mech, but rather as a fully autonomous mechanical lifeform.
