Not one minidoll to strut their stuff? I get the gimmick is to use a phone for the background, but come on, at least have one fashionista in the set to strike a pose. People these days always want minifigs for these display sets, but in a set strictly meant for play, especially one for modeling fashion, including a character or two feels like a requirement, even if they were just hodgepodge, mix and match, nobodies from preexisting parts.

Oh, the irony. Here's a set that's designed to work with phones, but _doesn't_ involve an app...and yet still manages to be incompatible with many phones (particularly any phone that's enclosed in a protective case).

Glampwalk fab stand, queen!

It really feels like anyone sitting in one of those chairs is going to be held there against their will…

I want to throw dollar bills at it.

Oh, it's this one. Being from the at this point 14 years of Friends sets, the only reason I recognize it is because it's a brick-built accessory set like the pencil holder shaped like a house.
That's probably why there's no minidoll(s) included.
Strangely, this set predates the superstar subtheme of 2015. The magenta brings that to mind.

That said, I like the simple but effective build. Very economic use of the parts budget which was emblematic of the times.

Btw, I always thought that those chairs would be a nightmare to keep minidolls on because there's 5 connected to two plates and on each the figure would only sit loosely. Touch one, and you touch them all.

Overall I understand what they were going for but it feels a bit unfinished as a set. And that's why it stands out, strangely enough.

That's a terrible use of bricks. It's like adding more screen time to your child's play.

Where is everyone?

The Video screen would go well with the Vidiyo K-Pawp band, where the cat could walk up and down the stage.

It's awfully hard to strut when your legs don't move independently.

The intention, at least, is to add some bricks to your child's screen time.

I wonder if this is a contender for the worst selling Friends set of all time. I bought 6 when discounted to £1 each mainly for the large black plate, and most of the bright colours went in my daughter's parts box. The lack of a figure and play features really killed this set.

<- nice

I suppose that's exactly why HUWBOT put a minidoll as RMOTD

You shouldn't be giving your 6yo a phone.

In Australia we haven't had "dollar bills" since 1984. We only have dollar coins now, which I imagine would hurt if thrown at you.

I just listened to an interview with a musician where he talked about having the audience throw pennies at them because they were pissed at something that was outside of the band’s control. Didn’t sound like those felt very good, and I imagine a Roony* is larger and easier to throw.

* ask a Canadian if you don’t get the reference.

A Loonie is the dollar coin, due to the Loon on it of course, a Twoonie is the $2 coin and even larger... I'd image both would hurt!

I actually still have a US dollar coin from many years ago back when I was traveling down there, I'd imagine they are not used much anymore.

Depends. I think the Sacagaweas get a lot of use in NYC with the subway system, but Susan B. Anthony proved unpopular because it was too close in size/color to a quarter, and silver dollars are worth way more than face value.

Now, the question is, did you figure out the Roony reference?

I didn't... am I going to feel shamed as a Canadian for needing it explained?!

Ah, maybe that's my problem... with Loonie and Twoonie, I would have gone with Roonie!

I remember verbally discussing the Canadian coin back when it was first issued, so I didn't know whether it was spelled "Loonie" or "Loony".
