By in United States,

I'm calling her Bartina. No special reason.

They get a lot of mileage out of that hair piece don’t they?

SIGH...have...got...miss...oh, sorry; let fill in a bit more on that last one: the batt...er, 'people' pack were a great idea, with all those variations (albeit still within...'City' limits:D). This is another 'I wish' things; and TLG would do more of these (hmm...they never did 'Farm' in this format, did they), and expand it (Space, Castle, and so on)...will it happen? Not holdin' my breath.:)

By in Ireland,

“with Cat Head”?

What does that mean? Does she torture and abuse felines?

Ha, I missed the cat head on the tshirt. Stupid me.

I like that they do, it's a cool piece. Plus, it's always nice when a part created specifically for a license (in this case, for Ginny from HP) doesn't remain IP-locked but gets used in other colours and contexts, as this one has ^^

Huh. I thought that hair was designed for 71001.

That’s the point of creating a whole new mould.

It predates her by a few years; I first encountered in in 2010's 4841 Hogwarts Express . Then it looks like 2012's 10224 town hall modular was the first time it made the jump to a non-licensed set, shortly before that minifigure ^^

Indeed it's the whole point of LEGO, period. At least it should be. Single use moulds should not be a thing at all, wherever possible.

Some very useful pieces were originally created for IPs. I mean, just think where we'd be without the lightsaber hilt and blade!

“And the General Grevious Starfighter cockpit windshield!”- Lee Chi Wing, probably.

It is, but you can’t force anyone to use it unless there’s a character that’s locked to it and they’re including that character in a set (like the bun hair on Ep4 Leia). With CMFs it got even worse, because prior to TLM2, the CMF parts were exclusively made in China, while retail minifigs generally were not. This meant any new CMF molds needed to be duplicated for use in retail sets. I had a chance to ask a Friends set designer about that process, and she said hairstyles were the easiest to get permission for, since lots of themes can make use of hairstyles, but you still had to get your design lead to sign off on it. There are several hairstyles that are still exclusive to the CMF line, and there are some that are nearly exclusive to the HP theme. This is one that could very easily have been overlooked in favor of other similar styles, and been scrapped when they no longer had a Ginnyfig in production.

I mean, I did look it up before posting, so I saw the first three years of use. I’m just so used to so many different hairstyles starting out with the CMF theme before making the jump to regular sets. it’s weird when it goes the other way around.
