Review: 77260 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4
Posted by CapnRex101,Speed Champions has produced a selection of memorable cars featured in the Fast & Furious franchise lately and 77260 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4 is the latest example. Brian's orange car appeared in Technic form last year, so the Speed Champions rendition feels essential.
Beyond its distinctive livery, which looks superb and avoids relying too much on stickers, the car's shape seems very accurate too. A new spoiler bracket element is included, but perhaps more notable are the chrome silver wheels. I considered newly-chromed elements a thing of the past, but clearly not!
Summary
77260 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4, 292 pieces.
£22.99 / $29.99 / €27.99 | 7.9p, 10.3c, 9.6c per piece.

We have waited a long time for Brian's Toyota Supra MK4 and it looks excellent
- Accurate proportions and bodywork
- Surprisingly few stickers
- Detailed graphics
- Chrome wheels
- Annoying gaps in the hood vents
- No detachable roof
Minifigure
Brian O'Conner first appeared in 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) a couple of years ago, but this version of the character is based on his appearance in the original movie. This hair element is well-chosen and Brian's plain black shirt matches the film, though it should have short sleeves and therefore dual-moulded arms, like the prior minifigure.
The double-sided head is an improvement though, without the odd smile from the earlier figure and now featuring a second expression. Brian sports these sunglasses when testing the Supra, so I am glad they are here as an option. A wrench is supplied, as normal, but I am not sure why, with no wheel inserts to remove.

The Completed Model
I am surprised it has taken so long for the Toyota Supra MK4 to appear in Speed Champions, but the result looks excellent. While the shaping is not hugely complex, it matches the source material and the paint is eye-catching, just as it is onscreen. There have only been a couple of orange Speed Champions cars, so this one should stand out.
Brian's Toyota Supra only appears onscreen with 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, but it looks splendid beside any of the Fast and Furious cars released to date. I quite like the pairing of Brian's first two signature vehicles, from the original movie and its sequel, as the colours work well together on display.
Considering the scale, I think the designer has captured the Supra's front well, as the radiator and other recessed features are all represented. The new spoiler bracket component appears towards the sides, immediately showing its versatility. The lights beside these brackets and the headlights above are printed, but the radiator and custom logo on the nose require stickers.
The hood vents are printed though, which would usually be welcome. However, I would almost prefer stickers in this instance, so I could control the space between decorations. There should be one slit in each vent and indeed the printing includes them, but the gaps between printing on separate pieces are annoying, making it seem like each vent is split into three.
I am baffled by the chrome wheel hubs. They look beautiful, needless to say, but I am not sure why they were deemed necessary. The onscreen rims are shiny, although not exceptionally so, to the point of chrome being essential. Still, I am happy they are provided and while I hope this signals the widespread return of chrome elements, I am not getting too excited yet!
The iconic 'Nuclear Gladiator' graphics are printed across a 2x3 tile and a 2x4 curved slope on each side, similar to the designs on 77241 2 Fast 2 Furious Honda S2000, although those also required a couple of stickers. There are only fourteen stickers on the entire model, which seems pretty reasonable for a car with such prominent graphics.
As normal, you can seat two minifigures inside and the interior is fairly detailed, with distinctive blue seats, which use game controllers for the backrests. The printed windscreen looks superb, but it is a shame the detachable roof is not included. Admittedly, the Supra's roof is not installed during many of its most memorable scenes, but I still wish it was here.
There is another annoying gap between printed pieces for the side windows, though these are less conspicuous than the vents. The rear windscreen looks perfect and the rear wheel arches are decorated as well, continuing the lime green graphics. Stickers are only needed for the 2x2 curved slopes to complete the designs at the back.
I am impressed with the rear lights, which are printed across multiple parts and line up exactly, going right to the edge of each piece. Orange meat cleavers form flared bodywork underneath, so they have now appeared in seven Speed Champions sets, in varied colours. The exhaust is also represented and angled accurately.
Overall
77260 Fast & Furious Toyota Supra MK4 is not among the most elaborate Speed Champions cars, some of which use truly remarkable building techniques. However, there is little need for anything extraordinary here because this design is executed well as is, faithfully replicating the Toyota Supra's shape and distinctive graphics and featuring lots of printed elements.
Ironically, a couple of those printed parts are a notable issue, as the hood vents are an integral feature of the Supra in the movie, so the extra slits are very obvious. Otherwise, the removable roof panel would have been welcome and the US price of $29.99 feels slightly too expensive for a single car, but I am comfortable with £22.99 or €27.99, especially given the chrome parts!

Wow, I did not realize the wheel hubs were chrome! The renders made them just looked like Metallic Silver, and I didn’t give it much of a thought. They’re beautiful!! With these and the World Cup trophy part, this is most definitely a step in the right direction for more chrome parts to come back into the fold. Exciting to be sure as I’d given up hope. I’m also excited about part 8193, I think it has some nice possibilities in front of it.
Check the "lifestyle" part of the press release, which I assume features actual photos. It shows very neat front vents, with no erroneous gap whatsoever.
Absolutely Supra!
I’m frustrated with the absence of roof — the bit where it gets removed while driving very, very fast seems to me quite important, and you can’t pretend to recreate it while making vroom noises if there’s no roof — but otherwise I’m pretty happy just to have it in Speed Champions form. It’s an important car, fannishly speaking, and I don’t do Technic kits on account of valuing being able to use my hands.
Honestly, will snag this when it's 20% or more off. Looks good enough, I bet even without stickers it'll be fine, and I'm not overly picky about the hood vents. So glad to see they did the Supra well.
That looks uncomfortably like Johnny Quest. And not from his own show, but from the Venture Brothers-episodes. Oh, poor Action Johnny.
I like this a lot and will probably get along with 77261 on my next order. Just hope that the chrome doesn't flake like old Lego chrome used to!
I am buying this solely because chrome
it's a shame about the hood vents. The TRD3000GT hood is very iconic, even getting mimic'd on the new supra (not TRD but GR 3000GT). I would rather have them use the gap as the seam between the vents, even if the proportions weren't right - compared to what they did. It also needs a hood, but it's still much better than what they did to the R34.
No way! Welcome back Chrome!
“…as the radiator and other recessed features are all represented.”
That’ll be the intercooler at the front behind the mesh, ahead of the rad!
So, the rear lights prove that, just like alternate manufacturers, LEGO can do proper prints - if they want to.
Pity most times they don't want to, just like is obvious in the same set with those front vents.
Still, at the usual discounts this will be tempting.

They announced quite a while ago that, when they can't brickbuild them, they will print headlights and taillights going forward. Basically, it gets back to the philosophy revealed for the Legend Beasts of Chima fame. There, facial features got exclusively printed, while fur, scales, and claws got stickers. The reasoning was that you need certain features are deemed necessary for play, while others can wait for a parent or older sibling to help out someone who doesn't have the hand-eye coordination needed for precise placement of stickers.
fantastic. the long sleeves on Brian are a weird blunder, most notable cause they did him right the last time around. but these guys are in LA with visible sweat in every scene! I mean, does anyone where long sleeves in this movie? also it seems a plain black tee torso would find plenty of usage beyond this fig, and so easily justifiable. guessing it was a tradeoff for the chrome and/or all the prints needed though, in which case a good one. just wish we got more than 1-2 FF cars a year...gonna take a lifetime to get through even just the hero cars across the franchise ??
This set was revealed just after I spent quite a lot of money on the parts, instructions and stickers for a Rebrickable custom version of this car. In some ways the custom one is better, but the Lego one is still a very nice set

Not to mention the hero people, which, uh, I’m extremely happy to have Suki and her Honda in the line-up but she isn’t the first female character I’d’ve thought of for a kit, y’know? (Although at least we’ve had *one* and that’s better than none. And it is a really cool car.) It’s a big cast and there’s barely a dent so far. It’s going to be quite some time before we can set up more than a handful of scenes from the films at this rate.
(That being said I very badly want the Eclipse and I’m okay with getting three Brian’s if that’s what it takes, so.)
In Jang’s review on YouTube the front central sticker has very poor color matching, which is common in North America. The match looks much better in these photographs. It seems like Lego has improved print quality this year, now we just need color matching on stickers to be improved too!
Can’t wait to get those new spoiler brackets in blue for micro scale classic space.

All vacuum-metalisation will flake with time, sadly. Though I imagine there are methods to retain the chroming better (like maybe adding a transparent layer on top, which would further increase the size of the element), it is an inevitability.

You mean besides the fact that he's a fleshie, so the torso wouldn't work in non-licensed themes? I guess they could use it to make another Superboy minifig, but I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

Letty is the most obvious choice, but Rodriguez has had multiple legal entanglements. I suspect they may be reluctant to actually turn her into a child's toy.
Mia is the next most obvious, but she spends most of the film series not actually involved in any of the driving.
Elena is also not very involved in the driving.
Gisele wasn't very well received.
Queenie would be an interesting choice, especially considering the age of the actress and character, but she's not exactly a heroic character, which may hurt her chances of ever appearing in a set.
I would love a Charlize Theron minifig, but Cipher was a straight up villain, which Speed Champions has yet to include in a set. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but I'm not holding my breath.
Ramsey has never even driven a car in her life until F9.
That basically covers all the major female characters. Unless they're willing to make a go of it with Letty, picking an inocuous bit character who only appears in one film seems like the safest choice. Besides, the theme is all about the cars, not the characters. It's unlikely that they picked Suki because the wanted to make a minifig of her, but rather because she's the one who drove the car they wanted to produce. The downside to this is, it means you can pretty much expect a lot of repeats of Dom and Brian, and Suki might be the only female in the lineup for a long time.
@PurpleDave, lol at Michelle Rodriguez "Legal issues". She had some tickets and citations 20 years ago, and charges from one fight that was dropped 25 years ago. Most of her *Fast and Furious* performances are more recent. It's not like those behaviors are good things, but it's not like she's PR toxic either.
Lego literally already made a figure depicting Rodriguez as recently as 2022 (AVT008), and have depicted people who are WAY more controversial than her.
They're not making a Letty figure because they don't think she's marketable enough, not for any principled reason.
The faceprint with the sunglasses looks goofy and limits reuseability.
The car looks cool though.

Yeah, the stickers turned this set from a must buy to a maybe. I have a fairly high tolerance for color matching on stickers, but the quality of the stickers in Jang’s copy of this set was BAD.
Maybe I'm too picky, but that isn't the same design of original wheels. Like that they are chromed, even spokes are of aluminium, not chromed.
And my first modding on it will be that front end stretch from 7-studs to 8 -studs
All this and still no Minas Tirith review?

Her legal troubles all largely stemmed from two DUI arrests, the latter of which was rumored (but never confirmed) to have gotten her character killed off on Lost (same for Cynthia Watros’ character for similar reasons). The actor who played Crabbe absolutely did get fired from the Harry Potter film series for his drug arrest, and the closest he’s come to getting a minifig ever since was Ron in 76386. I’m not saying it’s a proven fact that they’re avoiding Letty for the DUI arrests, but it is a possibility.
"They're not making a Letty figure because they don't think she's marketable enough, not for any principled reason."
And yet they made Suki? She was only in one film, and wasn’t even a main character in that film. Besides, as I’ve already said, this falls under the Speed Champions theme. The cars are the focus of the sets, not the characters. If there’s a car they want to produce, and Letty was the primary driver of that car, then she’ll probably get a minifig. If she doesn’t, then we’ll know for sure that they’re avoiding making a minifig of that character, but not necessarily why. If they skip Letty, but make some of the other women from that film series, it’ll be pretty clear that there’s problem is specific to Letty, and not just her gender (given the number of female drivers released across the SC line, I have a real problem seeing that being the main issue regardless).
@Purple_Dave
C’mon. Lego just made one Johnny Depp minifig with another in the pipeline. They do not give a single, solitary jot about someone’s history of substance abuse related bad behaviour.
No, the difference — now that I’m not hopefully advocating for the shinies I want and am instead sensibly assessing the theme — is most likely that Suki has one of the top five most distinctive and instantly recognisable cars in the entire franchise, driven by anyone, while I would need to look up most of Letty’s to remember what they look like, and much though I’d like the entire cast — I really, really would, and Gisele was received perfectly fine in my bits of the fandom for all of the wariness around Gal Gadot’s politics — the Fast & Furious kits are being made in the Speed Champions theme and the distinctiveness of the car matters. Letty doesn’t have particularly flashy taste compared to Brian and Suki and none of her cars have had the intense story focus that the Charger has.
(Her Nissan from the first film is nice, though, if not as memorable as the Supra, Charger or Eclipse, or even Jesse’s Jetta, which my partner desperately wants, so that’s a possible. Maybe the Jensen Interceptor? Or even one of the Heist Honda Civic’s, maybe… But none of them seem like obvious choices *as Speed Champions cars* rather than cars one of the main character’s drives, so hopefully they’ll just… keep going long enough to get to one of them.) (I like Mia’s first Acura, actually, but same issue.) (I know a lot of the fandom is hoping for Han’s Mazda from Tokyo Drift, so maybe that will be soon?)

Probably a bit more interest in a £23 set than a £580 set!

I’d also assume it takes a bit longer to build, take photos of and write a review for a set that’s many times the size of a Speed Champions car.
The wing bracket element is very interesting, hope to see it used more.
If TLG makes substance-abuse an issue, they're a few dozen Iron Man minifigures late for that.

All parts are Space parts, but some parts are more Space part than others.

That is bad person in your opinion? Because some crazy women wanted money from him?
There are plenty minifigures which represent ppl addicted to something starting with actors from Friends, Vang Gogh, Kevin Home Alone etc. Doesn't mean anything.

Who said anything about “bad person”? I wasn’t calling Michelle Rodriguez a bad person. Crux might have meant Robert Downey Jr was a bad person — I think it unlikely but it’s possible, I suppose — but they certainly didn’t say it. “Substance abuse-related bad behaviour” doesn’t determine the whole of someone’s character until the end of days.
Did you miss that I was making the point that Lego doesn’t use addiction as a hard no, and that I was not arguing that they should?
But: Do you think that’s the only substance abuse related bad behaviour he’s ever done? You’re not aware of the assaults or the property damage going back to the 80s and reoccurring every time he falls off the wagon?
Also, there’s an excellent video by Lindsay Ellis about Yoko Ono and The Beatles that you should really watch. It’s enlightening.

What? No, you monster. RDJ is a precious boy and must be protected at all costs. I meant Tony Stark is publicly and famously an alcoholic. So is Carol Danvers, but Tony is so notorious for it that he seems to battle the bottle in damn near every reality.

I know a number of people who would very seriously argue that Tony Stark is also a precious boy who must be protected at all costs, but it might depend on which Tony Stark. Comics!!
Also I just noticed that typo in Rodriguez and… goddammit. I can’t edit it in the OG but I can edit it here and then maybe no-one will notice/perpetuate it. /optimism!
@Hiratha:
First, I didn't say Letty was skipped because of Rodriguez' substance abuse. I said she _might_ have been skipped because of Rodriguez repeatedly making the news for two DUI arrests, and failing to complete her court-ordered community service. And I also said the character appearances in FFSC sets is probably more based on which cars they want to make than which characters they want to include.
Depp, despite failing to get his day in some backwater court, appears to have largely gotten charges dismissed, or reached settlements that prevented him from having to appear in court. Rodriguez pled guilty to four separate charges, and by extension to counts of parole violation. Nobody, including Depp himself, contests that he has a substance abuse problem, or a fiery temper. All of his exes (except the obvious one) have come forward to say that he never struck them.
RDJ is, admittedly, a different story. He's also pled guilty to charges, and spent a lot more time in jail than Rodriguez, but he's also been pardoned for all of his drug-related offenses. And he's made studios a boatload of money, and if one thing can get you forgiven in Hollywood, it's being bankable. And Rodriguez...isn't. Most of her film credits since Lost are from the F&F franchise, so she may only have a career on Vin Diesel's say-so, but she's definitely not the reason people go to watch those films.
Now, as far as Gisele is concerned, that was Gadot's first film role, and I kinda remember her taking some flak for the performance. But more significant, the role itself got a lot of negative response for the franchise's treament of women. You had two main female characters in the first film, and one of them (Letty) appears to get killed off before the credits roll. The other spends the film standing on the sidelines, while the guys do all the action stuff. Then they bring in Gisele for the fourth film, completely rewrite her character for each of the next two films...and appear to kill her off just in time for Letty to come back from the grave. It doesn't matter that both of them are among the various characters who "died" and came back later on if there were originally no plans to bring any of them back. At least Mia got written out clean (except she also came back). If they had a more balanced cast, it wouldn't matter so much, but when you barely have any female characters, and they're the ones who "die" the most, it's not good optics.
