Today's random figure is sp001 Blacktron I, a Space figure that was first produced during 1987. It can be found in 13 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 826,082 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $10.90.

But I only found the one that was partly shewed up, after going after too big prey.

This is still one my favorite minifigs of all time ever since the first time I saw one at my neighbor's house many years ago.
It's a bit weird complete sets of CMFs list the minifigs included in their component individual sets, but multipacks don't. According to the database, I only have the one from 6955, but I have 1675, which included 1875.
I also have one I bought off of Bricklink because I was trying to piece 6894 together. I haven't added that set to my collection, because I only bought the minifig and some of the rarer parts, then finished it off with stuff I already had.
My brother had 6895, and he later gave me his collection, but I didn't look to make sure that said collection was complete, so I may or may not have another.
I always felt these guys looked more like test pilots than intergalactic villains

The Legend.
I'm proud to own not only 5 of him, but also 4 of the re-issue (SP134) and the exclusive SP148 with printed legs and gold triangle logos. In my opinion one of the most iconic Lego minifigs ever.
BAck then, this one with a trans-red 6L-antenna in his hand was the closest to Darth Vader you could get! Love it!

I did pick up a number of the dual-side version of this from PAB when they were available. A nice, if minor, upgrade, and always good to have a few more of the team.

Oh dang! I remember my first Blacktron set. Got an Invader for my birthday, I think. I loved combining and recombining it for all the missions this guy went on.
It honestly never occurred to me they might be the bad guys until Space Police came along.

The fact that they were included in sets for two factions (and 1875, which may or not be a Blacktron set), is probably a big part of the ownership numbers.

Every set is a Blacktron set. Eventually. That Meteor Monitor was just in transit.
One of the best minifigs ever made. No need for leg or arm printing, this is perfect!

Blacktron is the first subtheme I completed - as a kid! That is, until they invented the Internet and I found out about the NA exclusive 6954 , which then became one of the first things I bought from overseas: internet really felt like living in the future!

Space and Castle builders do love to army-build the minifigs from their favorite factions. And if you’re building MOCs to go with them, you don’t really need to invest so heavily in the completed sets. Being present in two minifig battle packs certainly allows the minifigs to be obtained more easily by themselves, since someone can split the set up into loose minifigs and let everyone buy their favorite flavor.

While I would agree with you, I barked up the M-tron minifigure tree when it was the random fig of the day. The list you're seeing doesn't include multiple sets owned by collectors so the numbers will be off there. I myself own 46 in sets and 27 loose but I do own 3 of the 6954 Renegade so you won't see that reflected in the set count.
Well, RFotD is about to get a lot less cool.
