Throw on a different head and the torso could be used for a zombie, or a homeless person.

Cool!

By in Canada,

They're really scrounging up figs from TFA. Maybe the May the 4th promo will be the wrinkled old lady Rey looks at for 3 seconds.

Dang it! One more book with another exclusive fig... Lego why must you tempt my wallet so?

By in United States,

I am not tempted by this minifig. I do not hate it, but they put this out and no Willrow Hood (ice cream maker guy)? Seriously though, they need to make a Ponda Baba minifig: the Aqualish who gets his arm cut off in the bar in New Hope.

By in Australia,

The book itself might be a good read, as for the figure, it looks good, bit better than the one in Rey's speeder, so might be worth getting. The figure will certainly be a welcome addition to my collection, & will fit nicely with Encounter on Jakku.

By in Spain,

Oh man I love this minifigure!!!! Saw the thumbnail and thought it was crappy, but then I saw the bigger pics and I absolutely love it, cause it reminds me of some Dark Souls/Bloodborne enemies so much! I'll use it in my Bloodborne MOC for sure!

No hair/head piece and no leg print gets this a big fat meh in my book.

Looks like something from the Marvel or DC sets than Star Wars

@Clone: Why, should he be wearing camouflage combat trousers? I'm pretty sure there are very few details to print anyway.

By in United Kingdom,

What a wasted opportunity! Let’s just have a quick look at a few of the FAR more interesting characters they could have done…

Old Luke
Chrome Phasma
Guavian Enforcer
Nien Numb
Lieutenant Connix (played in the film by Carrie Fisher’s daughter, which would have been a nice nod)
Old Ackbar
Captain Ithano
PZ-4CO
Resistance General

Even the Stormtrooper with the bloodstained helmet from the start of the movie would have been better. This? This is an uninteresting looking and instantly forgettable 3 second character with a pretty basic print job, who doesn’t have any impact on the plot of the movie

By in United States,

It's amusing that they actually thought to make this fellow! He's not particularly recognisable but I'm sure the MOCers will find lots of uses for his head and body.

By in United States,

Head alone would make a great Sith Lord.

By in Spain,

I understand the hate of people who were looking forward to see a recognizable character, but what @magykfyre said is totally true and this figure's head and torso can be used in many different MOC themes! Zombies, post-apocalypse, monsters...

By in Venezuela,

I don't like this minifigure at all. This was an opportunity to bring and Exclusive Old Luke Minifig, or Rey in the outfit from last scene

A blood-stained trooper on the front of a kids book? Hmmmm

After a couple of weeks on Amazon the book will be selling for a fiver based upon previous similar books.

The pattern with these book-exclusive minifigures before is that they've typically been something "special," either celebratory in theme or unique to whatever product they're peddling. Either way, the character tends to be some variation of "fun" or "highly sought after but not important to the story." So far we've had:

- Celebration Luke (1st Visual Dictionary -- important scene, celebrates the book's release)
- Celebration Han (1st Character Encyclopedia -- same deal)
- Retro-Luke (2nd Visual Dictionary -- throwback to original Lego SW sets)
- White Fett (2nd Character Encyclopedia -- highly-sought character)
- Republic Guard (Yoda Chronicles -- eh, this one was weak)
- Palpatine (Dark Side Book -- weird choice given that we got a new Palpatine in Final Duel, but he's nice for people who don't want to spend $75)
- Young Han (Padawan Menace film -- character in the movie)
- Employee of the Month Vader (Empire Strikes Out film -- same deal)

The problem with this guy is that he doesn't fit the pattern of either "important" or "celebratory." He's just, eh, some background guy. Old Luke or Rey in her Padawan outfit would have been much more appropriate for a Force-centric book. I'd have even taken some obscure Jedi from the Clone Wars or Rebels.

By in United Kingdom,

I find it funny that people complained about not getting the second of Unkar's thugs in Encounter On Jakku, but now that we actually get him, people don't want him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, *I* never complained about a 2nd Unkar Thug in EOJ. I'm somebody who desperately hoped for Old Luke to show up in this book. I really don't want to have to pay $75 to get him as a Shop bonus.

By in Canada,

I have no issue with the choice of the figure, rather the execution.

I get what they were going for, but it just doesn't work for me, and out of context no one would get who this guy is.

They should have used some sort of head covering to complete the look - maybe from Dengar or even the old blacksmith hood from Knights - something - so it would look more like a pair with the other Thug.

By in United States,

The problem w/the figure is that w/the mummy-like material wrapped around his head being printed on, it looks like some sort of cosmic flesh eating disease, rather than an actual head wrap. They definitely should have added a head piece/hat piece to give the impression that the poor guy isn't just suffering from the worst case of intergalactic eczema ever. As for the rest of the fig, it's very lazy. There's not much detail to the source costume, but at least Lego could've added some creases or wrinkles here and there. If the book isn't amazing I definitely won't bother trying to buy the fig on the aftermarket, and I consider myself to be a completest.

By in Canada,

It surprises me how many people hoped for old Luke. It just seems like a figure Lego is saving for the episode 8 sets, and for a more expensive set to boot! Not a little bonus.

By in United States,

Someone from Kanjiklub or Guavian Death Gang would have been really cool, BUT that wasn't going to happen!

Old Luke, are you joking? This Minifig will be so expensive and highly desirable, I wouldn't be shocked if it's not in the $30-40 range just for the Old man alone.
Chrome Phasma, $90 set and we won't see her again till Ep.8, if at all.
Nien Numb, This would be cool.
Lieutenant Connix, you can custom make her already so no thanks.
Old Ackbar, we just got him in a set.
Captain Ithano, do you mean Sidon Ithano? Because that would be really cool!
PZ-4CO, this would be cool.
Resistance General, no thanks....
FN-2199/Nines/TR-8R, NO THANK YOU, I don't care about this stupid scene.
Temmin Wexley, no, but another X-wing pilot would be cool... Dare say, an Alian!
Constable Zuvio, not in the movie.

Stormtrooper with blood on helmet, THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! Get over it, move past it, it's very fan boy wishful thinking. This is a kids toy... Bottom line!

Sarco Plank, this is the best looking background fig. If I had the option, this guy in 1!!!
BB-8, dusty, dirty print. R2 and 3PO have come in books and other "cheap" media. This would be 2 for me.
Stormtrooper, just a regular old (Ep. 7 please lol) Stormtrooper. 3 for me!

By in United States,

It's "Chronicles of the Force." I'd have assumed a Force-related character over anything else. At this point, I'd have taken a mummified Luminara Unduli.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Agreed. Someone force sensitive would have been more appropriate.

Considering that was not a restriction given their decision to include the thug, background characters from the Takodana cantina scene are lacking: would love to see either the Crimson Corsair (Sidon Ithano) or how about Bazine Netal?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah, lack of leg printing is the only thing missing. I'm surprised, you'd think they would go all out with a minifig if they add it to a book, especially if isn't a major character. No weapon and no leg/arm printing...

By in Hungary,

Very strange choice for an exclusive minifig.

I have bought some of these Lego Star Wars books just for the figure, but it will be very easy to pass on this one.
