I never bought this set in particular, but I utterly loved Exo-Force when it came out. It was so different, and so damn cool. I'm a fan of Lego villainous factions, and the army of robots were just really cool. Another theme that only lasted 3 years, and it wasn't long enough.
my one quibble is that the legs can only go up and down so you can't get much posing in, but other than that I bloody love this set
I've had this set (along with the entire Exo-force line). Poseability is crap but otherwise it's a great set!
It was a shame this set didnt include a small human vehicle and minifig.
Exo-Force felt like the Poochie of Lego.
You know, WICKED EXTREME TO THE MAXXXXX, WHOOOOOO!!!!!
The mid-2000s were a weird time for this builder.
This was my favourite set as a Young kid! I got it on my birthday, but it doesn’t look as healthy as it used to do now, which is sad.
First, I only read Venom, so I thaugth, why would lego make Venom sets.
But it is a coincidence that this is the set of the day, a day after the Venom teaser released.
Nice! Exo-Force I only have two of the sets but I love them when they were out!
I loved this set as a kid. I had plans to modify it; to add joints to the "knees" to give it more pose-ability and to bulk up the legs some, but it never happened. Maybe someday...
I really regret not buying more sets from that line when I had the chance.
I always wanted this set but wasn't (and still isn't) prepared to pay aftermarket prices. Why is Exo-Force so hard to get these days?
Just bought one off eBay which arrived on Thursday, how random is that ????....
I adored this one, got it for my birthday back then (it was dicsounted to 40 Euros, a very fair price). Was so chuffed to get my hands on Mecha One.
Interestingly, there was a discrepancy between instructions and boxart with the two sets of two gun barrels above the cockpit, mine came with four COLUMN 1X1X6 to replace four COLUMN Ø7,84
I really wish Lego would reboot this theme. I was too young for Lego sets that complicated when they were available. A theme entirely for Mechs would be my dream theme.
The first of the sets of the day that I have. Somewhere. In about 646 pieces spread across 6 bins.
A great way to reboot this series would be create a Lego Exo force television show for Cartoon Network
This is an awesome set. While I don't have it yet (I do, though, have the Sentai Fortress), I'd love to get this one some day.
Love the mechs! I stumbled upon Exo-Force, as I was searching parts to modify Ninjago mechs. I instantly was pulled in. There are great repurposable parts in this series. They’re nice sets on its own as well. Can’t have everything, but I was able to get 4 used sets that included each of the 4 main characters.
I wanted this set sooo bad as a kid... I saw it in a T. J. Maxx I believe for like $50, and my Mom said that IF I got all A's on my next report card, it was mine! Alas... I was a few B's off. Oh well, I'll miss it.
Exoforce completely passed me by back in the day (I was totally not into Lego then). But I recently bought one set (not this one) to check it out. It looks like a whole lot of fun, with some great color schemes in some of the sets as well. I'm tempted to get some more, but then there is so much else...
I greatly enjoyed the Exo-Force theme. My twin brother and I collected the human battle machines and our younger brother got the robot battle machines. It offered good parts for my Bionicle builds but also a great introduction to System mecha design. The story was also pretty engaging, for me at least. Loved following along with the flash comics on LEGO.com.
While I loved the anime-inspired media, in hindsight I almost wish a figure like the mini-doll had been available back then so the figures in the toys could better match the characters in the comics. Instead the minifigure characters occupied a weird middle ground between the features of the characters in the tie-in media (admittedly, fairly stereotypical teenage anime heroes) and traditional minifigure features (yellow skin, chunky trapezoid bodies, no noses).
The Striking Venom itself was a bit of a mixed bag. Meca-One needed his legs removed to fit in the cockpit properly (I'm not even sure if the original production run of the set even came with his legs), the posability was limited (perhaps in order to support its large size, or to make finding stable poses less of a chore), and the build was rather repetitive. It certainly was an imposing battle machine, though!
I have this set and while I would have loved to get Mobile Defense Tank to use it as a Rebel Alliance tank. The Venom is used as a potent Separatist Army vehicle.
