Review: 40271 Easter Bunny

Happy Easter, Brickset readers - if you celebrate it!

We found out late last year that LEGO would be producing seasonal-themed BrickHeadz sets for annual holidays, which was surprising but welcomed.

40270 Valentine's Bee impressed me back in January, and February’s 40271 Easter Bunny looks to match that. But can it, truly? Let’s hop to it!

The Completed Model

April’s BrickHeadz sets may do away with the series numbering on the display stands, but the Seasonal ones seem like they will keep their exclusive printed tile. This particular calendar design looks great to me.

Colorful eggs dominate both sides of the base, along with some pink petal pieces which connect via peg. These are at least rare, if not entirely new for this year. The white 1x1s are definitely new for 2018, and also appeared in green with the bee.

Here comes Peter Cottontail... in LEGO form! This bunny is absolutely adorable, with an appropriate grey and white color scheme. I really like the stomach patch, made using a combination of a curved brick and arch.

The grey color alternates between dark and light, which depicts a realistic-enough texture. The noticeable buck teeth are replicated using some clever SNOT techniques. A little, pink, round tile nose is just the icing on the cake.

My favorite detail is certainly the floppy ears, using some clips, hinges and a bit of curvature for the signature look of any little rabbit!

The bunny is complete with a yellow basket and two-piece carrot, as well as a Technic ball tail on its backside. Cute!

Overall

This set is a sheer joy to put together, and to show off. It would go great with any spring display, LEGO-focused or otherwise - especially alongside his fellow Seasonal BrickHead, the bee.

While the bee has a more unique color scheme, I do appreciate the simpler design of this bunny. Haters won’t be swayed, but for fans I cannot recommend this set enough. Great parts, a fun model... and for only $10, it’s a steal.

By in United States,

I think the best Easter egg I found in this set, while all Brickheadz have brains, bunny had a heart as well.

By in United States,

While I still think this whole line is kind of stupid, one thing is clear, the non-lisence ones are so much better. This, Go Brick Me, Mrs. Claus.

By in Norway,

April’s fool, it is sold out and won’t be found for 10 any more...

But with LEGO still listing it as “new” might be forgiven

I have zero interest in Brickheads but dang it, this bunny is adorable!
And sold out, so I couldn't get one. :(
