Knight's Kingdom wasn't a bad line per se. Neither was Nexo Knights, imho. They were just both radically ambitious.

By in Australia,

I'm not altogether sure that Nexo Knights is really that comparable to actual medieval-themed Castle line-ups.

Knights Kingdom, aside from the big figs, to me was always just another Castle theme, just with named players this time (an early Lego attempt at a narrative, which they were playing with more and more back in the early 00s). It didn't grab me, but I never found anything particularly odious about it. Needed more dragons, though.

By in United States,

People called these guys the jellybean knights.

I always thought that was kind of funny.

Got this! :) Love that speckle black-silver boulder piece at the front.

I remember this thing being fragile.

As big shields might look redicelous for minifigs can be useful for specific creations.

Wait wait wait, Jayko? Jayko. The blue suited guy. Jay-ko. Jay. Blue. Why has it taken me this long to recognize that Ninjago pays homage to Knight's Kingdom?

Think it might be more of a bluejay reference personally :p

While I wasn't thrilled with KKI in general and this set in particular, as a recently-back-into-Lego AFOL this was the first Castle theme I had a chance to collect from new, so I dove right in. It's a little too juniorized and fanciful compared to the earlier Castle themes (what's with that uber-shield on this set?!), but if you ignore the horses-on-wheels and self-propelled siege engines and landing craft it's not a bad group of sets that contain all the basic necessary Castle-type objects (castles, horses, siege, drawbridges, cool medieval weapons, etc.).

The biggest hit against KKI as I remember was it's unfortunate timing as one of the first themes to use the new Stone Gray ("bley") colors and suffer the wrath of long-time Lego fans; now that the years have passed it's easier to judge the theme on its own merits (or lack thereof, let the debate continue!).

Have this set, love it. Been broken for so long, though...

As a kid I always oggled over the colorful knights of KKII, but I only got a little catapult with Dajiun. Since then haven't been the biggest fan of castle, save when it has dragons or giant monsters, so I'd probably go for something from the old Vikings line before something from this.

Still proud of LEGO for their story attempts, I hope they come up with something as good as BIONICLE or Ninjago now that NEXO Knights is ending.
