Hmmm... I don't think we can really pull a political angle out of a Santa Fe Train Car like we did for the last Random Set of the Day. I think Huwbot's trying to tell us something.

^ Wanna bet?

Another great train set. I ended up getting one of these (I really liked the mail car) and two of the other one. These were good trains. Trains with actual doors, for one.

I got two of this and two of the other one when they were on sale way back in 2005 to use for a project. I never ended up using them, and they're still sitting new in box in my Lego closet. After seeing what they go for on Bricklink, I don't think I can ever open them.

I was really lucky and asked for just these for Christmas one year long ago, and I absolutely adore them. A few years ago I rebuilt the five (one of each) into four longer cars; I made a half baggage/half mail car, like some older trains had, and I merged the dining car with the dome car from the metroliner (I never had the metroliner itself, so it was an easy choice). I think these might be my favorite LEGO train because they were great to begin with, and I've also put so much time and love into them.

I wish LEGO would make more sets like these. They contained extra pieces so you could build two or three different first rate models. The Creator 3 in 1 sets are no where near as good, they build one good model and two second rate models.

LEGO should make these sets with the new LEGO CITY trains.

Man, the Superchief is one of those on my wish list that'll probably never happen. Such a great model.
