By in United States,

Would be great for Technic to provide a modern edition of this with differentials, steering, shocks, gear box, etc. No need for body work, brand licensing, etc. Just the guts of a vehicle, some additional instructions for motors (incl. Servo motor), and maybe some additional information on car terms. Would be a great starter-MOC set.

Nice! Another one of those on my wish list that I never expect to actually own...

What is great is that this can be used with 8858.

By in United Kingdom,

Got this for Christmas when I was 6, and still have it! It had many faults, the engine used to come apart and the gear ratios were not good for smooth running. The steering also rubs on the chassis. But I adored it and could just about build it from memory! A classic and my idea of a Technic set with everything exposed - perhaps we will get a remake, that would be cool!

By in Israel,

I know this model by the name 853. It was my first Technic set, bought by parents for me in 1979.

@oprivateer: Yup, American vs. European set numbers. If you click on the image above for set 956 you'll see it is actually 853 :)

By in Canada,

I was 11 years old when it came out. And it was a lots of money back than. But I got it 2 years ago. 39 years after it was released. Complete in original box.

I bought this new in the early 90s on the rec.toys.lego newsgroup. Before ebay or Bricklink. Anyone remember that?

By in Portugal,

The colors chosen for this set are horrible.

This set came out the same year I did. However, it took until I was in my mid-30s to acquire it.

It was given as a gift from my parents. I've never been a Technic fan, but I really like this set.

Though it's not without it's flaws, even for the time, it looks great on my shelf.
