By in Australia,

Probably one of my favourite ever Lego houses. It's just so cute and sweet, complete with functioning kitchen and bedroom.

This very set's umbrella won me into the Leisure subtheme.

By in Turkey,

Such a simple and beautiful set. I have couple of houses from that era, but not this one.

I feel as though I destroyed this house numerous times playing Lego Star Wars. Before my time unfortunately.

Ah, fond memories. This was actually one of the first LEGO sets I ever got as a kid.

And think of it, 144 pieces gave you a fully built house with interior, garden and accessories.
Nowadays even a Speed Champions car needs more pieces, albeit mostly tiny ones whereas these classic sets gave you substantial parts for your money.

A beautiful house from a simpler time.

I was going to write about how LEGO was just as good then and I had lots of fun with it and those parts were sufficient for all possible play.

All true, but new elements are brilliant!

This house still resides in my city - a great example of the era! Good colour combinations and a well equipped bungalow! All with only 144 pieces...

Is that hair supposed to be pigtails?

I just love the Shutters. I wish Lego still made window frames that accommodated shutters.

@Mith77 - This is good stuff!!! Like it a lot. Many sets like these would deserve this kind of comeback.

It looks a bit drafty round the back

Great memories! This was one of the first LEGO sets my brother received as a kid but I played with it more I think. It has everything you want for a little hideout in the forest: bedroom with bed and lamp, kitchen with fridge, oven and even with range hood. I like the green shutters too, those give a character to the set. Simple and lovely set from the golden era. Perfect.

The old Town houses were great. It's nice to see them finally come back under the Creator line now that they have minifigures and interior detail. City always seems to emphasise places with too many police stations and no homes!

Great little classic house that I'd love to have in my collection. I've got one from around that era, although was mostly receiving Fabuland sets at that time, which of course were also great!

@Mith77 that is a wonderful recreation, thank you for sharing :)

LEGO needs to make more houses.

Yes, this is the house in the LEGO Star Wars OT/TCS that you destroy in Lego City to build into a tractor. Many classic sets were brought into the video game, such as 6382, 588 and 4886 (a modern classic which I own) and even 885 in the space slug's stomach!
