Random set of the day: Street Soccer
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 3570 Street Soccer, released in 2006. It's one of 3 Sports sets produced that year. It contains 199 pieces and 4 minifigs, and its retail price was US$20.
It's owned by 246 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

This probably just about proves Huwbot is not as random as he's supposed to be.
@ZeeEssBS - Huwbot was certainly random when Huw programmed him but might have developed a malevolent personality since then, focusing intently upon Sports and Clikits!
While it is another Soccer set, at least I can tell what set it is because the picture isn't crammed into the corner.
My theory proves itself true! Huw is secretly a Soccer Champion! And he won’t deny it! What is that? Like three soccer sets in the past week?
Street soccer? What street have you seen that’s green? And with perfectly positioned boundaries and goals?
Edit: just googled it. There was a soccer champion named Huw Millington back in the early nineties (hope I spelled it right. Sorry Huw). Anybody else remember this? And he and his team won the World Cup! His team was called the stackers. Or was it the Clutchers? (CMS reference)
Not really.
^Either that, Mia or Stephenie from the Lego Friends line, since they are the sporty type lol.
Its only American complaining about soccer. The rest of us loves everything about the sport... Except the Lego sets.
^ I don't know, I always liked these sets. Sure, the Lego sports sets were always hit-and-miss, but what city doesn't have the occasionally grassy sports field around the joint? I loved being able to include those elements in my Lego city.
Although I love the idea that Huwbot is stuck on Sports and Clikits because he's secretly plotting against us.
Actually to tell the truth I never really had an interest in (real) soccer, or for that matter football or baseball, sports are just not my thing, But strangely I always loved the sports theme especially the soccer sets, but I never did get any unfortunately;(
Huwbot needs to do some old Lego Technic sets!
Fun fact about randomness - humans are really bad at knowing what it is, because we're basically designed to spot patterns. If we see two related things come up in a row, we say 'aha, a pattern', when in fact in a truly random system you'd expect to see that happen as often as any two other things.
It's why the shuffle function on your music player of choice usually isn't truly random, it's weighted to avoid choosing e.g. two songs from the same album in a row. People think non-randomness is more random than true randomness!
Goooooaaaal, Goal, Goal Goal Goal......
@JonMarten: Exactly. :P This is why people get addicted to gambling. They seem to spot win patterns, and in some cases begin to associate certain things and rituals with winning or losing, which can develop into complex superstitions around what is actually completely random.
Heck, this isn't limited to gambling either. People do this with all sorts of things like health for example. The proliferation of alternative medicine is an unfortunate side effect.
I didn't even know, until just the other day, that Lego was still making Football sets in 2006; I didn't recall any newer than the '02 ones. Shows how much attention I paid to the Sports line at the time, I guess? xD
Just noticed something odd, though. The Minifigures page for this set shows the figs with completely plain torsos, while the official image clearly shows them with designs on. I'm guessing that was either mistake on the box art... or the designs were stickers, and so aren't counted as part of the minifigures?
I love LEGO Sports.
@BionicleJedi
Stickers.
The 2006 soccer sets were never in the U.S. shop at home catalogs. I only learned about them because of the Club Magazine.

^ Agree
I just found a still-in-box 3432-1: NBA Challenge in my basement the other day and have no recollection of ever buying it. Since I'm not into team sports it must have been on clearance and possibly booze-related.
