Random set of the day: Nick Bluetooth
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 8310 Nick Bluetooth, released in 2002. It's one of 20 Galidor sets produced that year. It contains 12 pieces, and its retail price was US$10/£7.99.
It's owned by 261 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

OMG SOMEONE JOKED ABOUT A GALIDOR SET YESTERDAY!!!!!
For all of the hate Galidor gets, I really can't help but appreciate the theme in all of its wonderful weirdness! Some of the parts are also pretty darn cool, to boot.
Clikits yesterday, Galidor today. We're due for Znap tomorrow.
Zaphod Beeblebrox said it best: "Ten out of ten for style. Minus several million for good thinking."
Het look, my white whale is finally random set of the day!
/s
G-I-Joe? Or lego? I’m confused.
A shame, forever judged for what it wasn't, rather than what it was.
Honestly, I thought that the Nick figure in particular for Galidor was very cool. I used the punching arm in other Mocs for years after. The missile-firing wings were cool too. It was a cool concept mostly let down by a poor show (though the character designs and concept were quite good).
I just keep remembering the deja-vu/Groundhog Day style episode where in the end he stops trying to change what happens and just lets it happen, still planning to save the day in the end but recognizing that there’s *nothing* he can do to actually change it in the end. Accepting fate while still choosing to overcome it afterwards. It was a neat take on the idea.
All right, which one of you joked about Galidor yesterday?
Creepy figure...
Absolute unit. 10/10 would glinch again
It was only a matter of time...
OH NO.
Galidorable
Ah Galidor, the creepy, G.I. Joe-esc, BIONICLE-wannabe. A part of me wonders if it would've done well if they just made them as minifigures or kept the constraction style set in place by Bonks or what eventually became KK II, instead of making these gigantic and strange parts.
As odd as it is though, I gotta say I've always loved Nepol, especially in 8321. Something about his design is just neat. Looking though the sets now Ooni might be fun to MoC with system some day...
@Zordboy: That would be oldfan from the United States, 08 Jan 2019 07:50, who said:
"Just imagine the vitriol if Huwbot were to select, say, Galidor..."
Delete this.
Lego should make minifigures for all the Galidor characters, those would be some awesome collector’s items.
Don’t tell me we are going to have fabuland or belville next!!
As if it weren't enough that a bunch of adults get vitriolic and\or sentimental about a children's toy everyday, we should definitely add gambling to the mix by running a sweepstake for predicting the next day's RSOTD.
One of the greatest heroes in Lego. Johnny Thunder must be jealous.
"I hate Kek!"
No bluetooth function on this one I guess.
He connects well with my phone too!
These were sold off for one Euro a piece in the local toy stores the year later, a friend of mine at the time bought them all (multiples even I think). Poor guy, I think his life went nowhere after that.
Jack Stone is still worse in some aspects because it's actually recognizable as LEGO.
^ If we get a Jack Stone set tomorrow...
^^ I sold all my Galidor sets Xmas 2017 and invested in Bitcoin instead :/
Funny, some of those figures look as if they would go well with the old Masters of the Universe figures from the Eighties.
Funny also that one is called Gorm. Makes me think of that Monty Python Sketch about the woody and tinny words. I know he said "Gorn" there, but it sounded just like Gorm. Nice and woody ;-)
my son
As with Clickits these don't seem to bear any resemblance to anything Lego. I assume they have holes in the feet so they can actually stand on a Lego Brick otherwise might as well be any old toy. Its amazing what Lego ventured into and then quickly dropped.
TheLegoFan: Don't you dare lump in Fabuland with this, you blasphemer.
Looks like Action Man ...
This almost made me burst out laughing when I saw it. Someone talked about Galidor for RSOTD yesterday.
Well, it had to happen eventually, right...? xD
Was Galidor even promoted by Lego at the time? I know I was getting Lego World Club Magazine frequently back then, and I don't recall seeing even a single mention of this theme. I don't think I even knew it had existed until some years later.
Personally speaking... I can respect that Lego was wiling to try something different, even if it didn't work out. Though I won't deny that these really do feel out of place amongst your typical Lego lineup xD;
I remember seeing these in Target. I didn't understand. They were in the Lego section, they had the Lego logo, but they weren't Lego. I thought someone somewhere had made a mistake. I was right.
Wow, I should have bought a lottery ticket...
Was shocked when I saw this listed as a Lego product... I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Bluetooth made a small presence on The Lego Movie saga... Glad that Lego learned from old mistakes!
@CarolinaOnMyMind you win the thread!
wow only one of these for sale on bricklink at the moment
eagerly awaiting the FabuLand appearance here!
Ah Galidor. The memories of the night I discovered this theme was part of LEGO history and legend amongst AFOLs are just too funny, and always make me smile.
:o)
What. Were. They. Thinking?
All hail Galidor!
Finally! The face of huwbot, our true leader!
Yes, Galidor did get some brief promotion by Lego at launch in the Magazines. An ad or two for the theme and TV show, at least one ad for the GBA game to. I actually remember seeing a few episodes, but I can't recall much plot.
I own Deluxe Nick, Allegra, Gorm, the frog guy and the robot guy; plus some happy meal toys. Got them as a kid back in 2002. Have been tempted to chase down the other sets for kicks and giggles. Become the first AFOL with a complete Galidor collection. :D
But I'd rather spend my money on Lego's current, much better lineup... than chasing Galidor down on Bricklink just as a tease.
Go Huwbot!
When I first discovered the exsistence of this a couple of years ago I believe my exact words were "He's quite dreamy. For an action figure". We need Barbie's opinion on this. Would she go for this dude over Ken? 1980s Sindy might because she didn't have boyfriend - but I think she prefered her horse.
I'm over thinking this....
I can't believe that 261 people would admit to owning this set.
If I’m going to be honest I had a bit of a soft spot for the tv show. And I liked playing the online game though I never managed to get off the first planet :(
If you press your ear very tightly against the device you're reading this on you can hear Huwbot's maniacal binary laughter echoing deep inside.
What a strange set will appear tomorrow.
the name reminds me of this:

Beyond the Brick recently did an episode about Galidor:

Fun yet useless fact: this guy, and two others of his brethen, are currently up for sale (second-hand, of course) on my country's largest online shopping site, where I've gotten all my BIONICLE sets from. I've ocasionally dabbled on asking for them, but I don't think their awesome glinching abilities will convince my parents that A: they're LEGO products, and B: they're a good investment...
Well, will Znap, fabuland, belville, or Jack Stone be the RSOTD tonight? We will see in 10 minutes lol.....
