Hey... That's a nice idea of a set. Too bad it looks so juniorized...
These Shell Football sets were so cool. The printed field base plates! Too bad we never had them down under.
It looks like it does everything it needs to though, and the large pieces blend together nicely.
Actually, since we've now put a number to how many clickits sets Huwbot has dug up, how many sports sets has it highlighted?
I like the box art figure doing a backflip and bending how no minifigure has bent before...
I’m beginning to think that before 2009 there were just Sports and Clikets sets and nothing else.
...Or that’s at least what Huwbot wants us to believe...
15 in the Sports theme alone, and 3 in town.
This isn't including the racers sets, other themes with a racing vehicle or the Quidditch Practice set (4728 from 2002) from 4/6/18.
^Which is funny, as I have 138 sets that are pre-2009 myself. And none are either in the Sports or Clickits themes.
It's a little bit juniorised, but I think the sports theme (like the other town sub-themes of the late 90s. RESQ springs to mind as another example) works with the larger, blocky pieces. I think they add to the overall architecture style. They work for me.
I have a few of the later sets but this looks good too.
Yeah, we're totally beating Brickostania!
Never seen that one. Then again, I was in my dark ages during that time. Haven't even got any of the catalogues from between 1996 and 2010, sadly.
Who wants to press the box?
Surprised no one has made a Nokia reference or joke yet, looking at the set number.
So, I'll bite: Who would win, a LEGO brick or a Nokia 3310?
It looks like the binoculars minifigure is looking at the minifigure that is making a backflip in the box art.
It looks like a Sports set that dreams of being some sort of Technic robot.
There's a couple of superfluous juniorised bricks there, but otherwise it could pass an early 80s moon base!
