Very... Generic. I had something like this from the early 2010s.

By in United States,

Ah so this is where this annoying design started. Must have been popular at first...

THEN THEY DO IT OVER AND OVER AGIAN!!
IN EVERY SINGLE CITY SET!!

By in Australia,

I don't know, I kind of like this one.

By in New Zealand,

Beautiful. Just like 6642.

By in Hungary,

I didn't have this but 6664 instead. Always enjoyed the general design as it reminded me of the heli in Magnum P.I.

By in United States,

An older sibling used to have this, but by the time I can remember, it had become one with the FreeStyle bucket.

I had the police version of this, also cane with another cop on a motorbike.

By in Finland,

Not my most wanted set... at all. I could be worse, though.

By in Czechia,

Actually kind of nice set. I think the first one with this design was 6642 in 1988. Much better design than the helicopter in 6386 in my opinion.

By in Germany,

This was my second helicopter set. Forst one was the 6342 Beach Rescue Chopper. And well, yeah, most of the old helicopters do quite look the same, just as the modern ones in recent years. But I still like them and collect them, just because, you know, helicopters are cool!

Nice. This set is as old as I am :-D

This set being featured got me thinking about how classic Town sets had a habit of having evocative but not particularly descriptive names like this one, versus today's City sets that tend to have much more descriptive names. As a City set, this would just be called "Fire Helicopter".

Cute set.

"Oh, I've seen this design before, so I've summarily decided that it can never be repeated, as time never passes, new people never discover LEGO, and my need for constant novelty gratification trumps all."

I'm going to stop grousing about this, but those kinds of inevitable posts get tiresome.

@Zordboy, never apologize for your tastes. You don't owe anyone explanations.

By in Hungary,

I miss those rubbish random sets. So funny comments back then.
A ZNAP set for tomorrow, please!

By in Netherlands,

I had a police helicopter very similar to this in the 6354 Pursuit Squad set. (1990)

That set was great, helicopter, motorcycle, SUV, and boat/trailer in 1 police set with 3 cops.

By in Germany,

I remember this was among the ...umm first 15 -20 sets or so I ever got. I also remember that it somewhat 'blew up' on itself overnight due to the bent rubber hoses... Their end tabs had a more secure connection than the parts of the actual cockpit! It never happened again when I reassembled it years later however, so I guess I did some sort of mistake back then...

Of note with this set is the fact that it came in at least 2 different versions: The earlier, more flimsy version shown here and a slightly less elegant looking one with a sturdier bodywork. Unfortunately, some of the alternate models on the backside of it's box were not buildable with the updated model's parts.

The special parts used for it's landing gear ('4873 Hanger 1x6') also came in 2 different versions (since this was released during the mould change). The older version had completely hollow stud holes like used in Space Police I prison cells and were cast in a strangely dark red color (Bricklink's 'Rust', due to color issues with PP plastic). The later variant (Design 6140) had partly blocked stud holes (making them not fully usable for certain older models) and came in a normal Bright Red ABS plastic.
