Was it just me, or was there a rare period in Lego City, from about '98 to the mid 00s, where Lego was just obsessed with those three-wheeler bikes?
A purple bike? I didn't know there were purple bikes!
^ Yes, there was.
Would have loved to be able to get that purple bike.
It's that Telekom (or T-Mobile for us in the U.S.) color of pink.
I remember when I first spotted that purple bike a few months ago I was blown away. You can never have too many colors for an available part, and I'd love them to do more stuff like that.
I remember the Telekom team very well , watched Tour de France each year.
Jan Ulrich was the main rider with multiple 2nd places.
Basicly the competition for Lance Armstrong (now disqualified).
Telekom race cyclist and television motorbike.
Now THAT is a catchy name. So poetic.
At first I thought those were crooks on that three wheeler and they were shooting the bicyclist. Then I remembered. No guns in city sets. Different kind of shoot you might say.
I love the subtle attention to detail of all of the bicycle wheels in the background of the packaging!
Lego on steroids.
is the guy driving the motorbike wearing a dinner jacket? odd choice of attire...
Erm... am I the only one who's spotted that there are no motorbikes in this set?
That's not a purple bike, it's a DARK PINK bike. :)
Oh I loved this line, I have the 1196 and 1198, As others pointed out it' not puprle, in real life it's a quite vivid pink.
@Speed champions fan
No, you're not.
At first glance this set looks like a fun little set to add to your collection. At second glance, there's a really weird match in parts. Almost like Lego had some spare parts and decided to make this with them.
How else could we explain:
1: The lack of an actual motorcycle
2: The dinner jacket on the driver
3: The giant headlight on the trike
4: A hot pink bike
The cyclist needs a bicycle helmet. :)
I had to Bricklink one of these 4 sets some time ago to complete my “bicycle in every color” collection. Although regular yellow is the most rare regular bike color, available in just one set - 6420. Also not listed in the Bricklink database, along with black.
I always hated those 3 wheel bikes. I wished they kept making the 2 wheel bikes they had before. I still like them more than the new bikes they make
@Darth TNT -- Not a dinner jacket but a late 90's attempt at creating a black leather jacket. Also used on minfigs that drove hot rods earlier in the decade.
I love this set.
@Kynareth Lego on Epo ;)
