Is it just me or does the trailer not look like it’s screwed on just right? ;-)

Not that these are the sleekest looking sets in the world, but they are still great. Anytime Lego wants to bring back classics like this, my heart and wallet will be wide open.

Is that the only technic lawnmower?

And if so, why?!

Huwbot is programmed to read my mind. I just recently dug out my original technic boxes and instructions, including this one. I believe it was my first. Classic space came before that.

I always built dragsters that would pop wheelies when engaging the motor. Thanks, Huw, for programming Huwbot to bring back the good memories!

Wow... My first and only Technic set! Still have it for 95%, and we used it a few months ago and built the "carousel"... And MODed it so that my daughter can use it for her Friends figurines :) it still is working good! I did not remember that the battery box was so long and big though

A beautifully well balanced set. Lego could sure learn from its past considering the present day line up for sets of this size.

I do wish Technic was more attractive to buy these days.

I applaud Huwbot for a run of 2 days with classic sets from my childhood. Love these articles.

Yes, Lego can learn a lot from these older sets. I'd gladly open up my wallet many times over for small technic sets of "just useful pieces" with ideas like these to spark imaginations. I remember doing so many builds with this set, and shocked to look back and see that it only had 191 pieces.

Just yesterday I placed a pick a brick order and was disappointed that only 1 gear option was available.

Last year I pulled this out of storage to play with my 4 and 6 year old kids. They were amazed at the size and weight of the battery pack. They'd never seen anything close to a size C battery. They're so used to smaller batteries and more efficient lights and motors. Back in my day it was perfectly acceptable to have a toy tethered to a controller or battery pack. But not with today's kids. I'm sure Lego could still come up with some good builds integrating the battery.

I remember getting this one Christmas morning, after getting 8035 the night before for Christmas eve. These were such great sets. I just re-built the Jeep from 8020 a week ago with my kids.

^ I was thinking of using that battery pack as a counterweight for a clock--much more elegant then the big 4x6x whatever weights from the boats!

@namekuji well balanced set? Accounting for inflation it would cost 80$ today, that is quite more expensive compared to today's models

Would love to see a multi build set with technic. I know some are 2 in 1 but something like the classic brick boxes for technic, i.e. instructions for 6 small models and ideas for more for to figure out yourself. Make it happen Lego!

Oh and I still prefer studded technic.
