An actual classic space set would have been more appropriate, given the article today, but good try Huwbot. Maybe next time.
Got pretty close though.
Is Space same as Classic Space?
I just bought this a few hours ago on eBay! Excited to put it together as 1997 was firmly in my dark ages.
I agree that a classic space from the first year might have been better suited for today.
And the Wario says: "Oh I missed!" if he wanted a classic space set.
928 anyone???
@ArielHairRaph that’s like asking if Rock is the same as Classic Rock. Nickelback vs Led Zeppelin. I mean, the UFO line had some interesting stuff going for it. But no not the same at all.
UFO was a cool theme, except for the way it was made. I wish LEGO made a new alien theme today
Not one of my favorite UFO sets. This just looks thrown together. The saucers were the tour de force of the UFO theme.
Nope, not for me...
The UFO line was something different, and I appreciated it for that.
Alien Conquest did this theme way better...
Honestly I’m not a huge fan of Space from the late 90s. The colors are garish, the designs on the figs are a jumbled mess, and there’s too many big ugly pieces.
It makes sense that kids if that era would like them, but I gotta think it’s more the magic of the LEGO System than that awful color scheme.
Space was dying and Star Wars saved it.
Eh, UFO was my first Space theme so I liked it.
I went out of my way to save up for the small flying saucer set, but I had this one too. Fun times.
