Random set of the day: Ice Planet Scooter
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 3014 Ice Planet Scooter, released in 1998. It's one of 20 Space sets produced that year. It contains 19 pieces and 1 minifig.
It's owned by 330 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

Clikits to Ice Planet? Yeesh, talk about whiplash.
Ice Planet, for me is the best Space Subtheme ever. I wish they had more sets...
orange transparent chainsaw
Ice planet was one of my favorite themes growing up! I had the 6834 Celestial Sled, 6879 Blizzard Baron, and 6973: Deep Freeze Defender. Such awesome sets, classic space exploration! I desperately wish I still had them, need to get them from Bricklink!
NEXO Knights should have been Ice Planet.
Space Space Space Clikits Space....
Me: Hmm, i think my echo is broken.
Ice Planet has great builds (except for this polybag), but the orange glass clashes so severely with the blue and white hulls that I can never persuade myself to buy any Ice Planet sets.
Ice Planet 2002...
Wow, that was a bold prediction for 1998. Okay, 1993, but still.
Huwbot, who ya tryna fool? It's obvious at this point that you aren't actually random.
RELEASE THE STAR WARS SETS FROM CAPTIVITY!!
That guy isn’t wearing a seatbelt. That’s not safe...and illegal.
He better remember to clikit or ticket.
@Your Future President
Seatbelt laws didn't exist on ice planet as of 2002. No one even knows if they exist now, since the theme got retired. It's one of the great mysteries of Lego space...
Well, it ain't Clikits. Neat little set, loads of good parts. The only thing I find weird is that the figure stands up, as opposed to sitting down in the vehicle.
One of the best visor pieces ever!
I was too young for these, but ice planet is still one of my favorite space themes! It’s also my favorite LEGO logo of all time... many of my city’s shipping containers and freight cars use secondhand ice planet tiles as branding.
a strong contender for my first ever lego set
The orange just puts me off, other than that I'm fine with white-blue combo...
A great sub theme of a great classic theme. I would love to see a new Space exploration theme in the future.
@iwybs: Are you serious? The intense cold/warm colour contrast is the best part! It's the most widely used combination in media for a reason, and it has a functional theme as well (with the chainsaws being hot to saw through the ice etc).
Yay, Ice Planet! Such a cool theme! I think I have this set, but most of the minifigure parts are lost!
So why was this rereleased in 1998?
I have to agree, I really like the fluro orange, and I think it looks really great alongside the blue and white.
Ahh, back from when labeling something '2002' seemed incredibly futuristic....
2002: A Space Theme
Ice Planet 2002 (not the actual release year), amazing subtheme of Space I only got 2 sets from back in the day (2x Celestial Sled).
It's one of the reasons I was attracted so much to Nexo Knights initially, because Trans-Neon Orange is just an amazing color.
