One of the first battlepacks. Loved that it included Red Beard.

By in Australia,

I'm sure I ended up with at least one of these.

Honestly, as much as I love Captain Red Beard? The best part of this set was the busty tavern wench.

By in Sweden,

What a special year 1989 was for Lego.

It seems Huwbot doesn't know to format retail prices with an extra 0 when the cents are a multiple of 10. Someone should tell him...

By in Venezuela,

Avast! A pirate crew! And from the very same year that our bat-matey's new land vessel nonetheless!

Had this back in the day. Was a great value with so many cool minifigs and helped round out some of the place-sets that didn't come with enough figures. :)

By in Australia,

I love how colourful this box art is with the classic two tone backgrounds and bright Pirate minifigures.

Also, how good were those shiny gold coins?!

Pirates, such great memories.

@MCLegoboy
It's so funny - in the Finnish version, the joke is completely different, but I still thought it was a good one!

Sweetness!

By in Greece,

Perhaps one of those little sets that defined me as LEGO lover back in my childhood... bring back LEGO Pirates!!

By in Singapore,

So happy the bluecoats made a comeback when Pirates was last released.

By in Belgium,

We definitely need more 'battlepacks' like this one, for all themes. This year's two blisters (beach and space) are a step in the right direction.

By in Switzerland,

One of my favorite sets. I still recall surprise when I understood that pirate captain doesn't have metal fist, as in promo picture, but hook:

This was a huge mystery for me as a child :)

By in Italy,

That's how each of us owned 10 pirate captains but just 1 governor.

By in United Kingdom,

The bluecoats have the element of surprise but I reckon my money is still on the pirates

By in Luxembourg,

Is the only real explanation for our dreamy eyed obsession with such sets purely nostalgia? I bought the 6273 set yesterday at a toy fair and I know it wasn't an objective purchase, but I'd like to believe that even younger customers would be happy about this theme today.

By in Germany,

Legendary minifigures! This was to time to say goodbye to classic faces, the begin of a new era of minifigs.

By in Netherlands,

LEGO needs to bring back packs like this (and not just blister packs exclusive to LEGO.com)

I love this set!! I did not have many Pirates sets, but this one, yes!!!
It gave me many battles between pirates and soldiers!! How many fights for the gold coins!!! So good memories...I hope my children could enjoy it as much as me!!

So apparently harmless YouTube videos are considered spam and will be reported despite the fact that it was related to the topic and I thought was pretty funny. No, we can't have fun in Random Set of the Day comment sections. Now @TransNeonOrangeSpaceman has a comment that makes no sense because he was replying to me.

@Huw Is there a way to notify commenters if their comments have been reported, and can they be restored by way of a review board because this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CAdv1SgtSo is not worthy of reporting. I was just trying to get the ball rolling in the comments. It's a joke about pirates, but rather than type it up, I shared the source from where I first heard it, not like it was original in Spongebob either, but it's better than me taking credit myself for such a bad joke.
