Wanted this set, oh well.

At least it's a break from the Bionicle rampage.

By in Portugal,

Was on my wanted list for a long time, but the scale of the new Lego aircrafts... Just doesn't fit on my city layout.

Do prefer the 4 stud wide.

Good set, looks very playable, would look more accurate if jet engines were chosen instead of propellers, but still, nice to have variety.

Are they hauling a Bionicle limb?

Not this specific plane, but I got two such planes of the same design plus a bucketload of other bricks from a friend for $40. It was amazing.

That image is a little deceptive as it doesn’t show the full set which includes a super yellow truck and the star of the show- the cargo lift trailer.

It’s a beautiful set though, I love those big fat white rudders.

By in Turkey,

These planes look like Playmobile sets, I just can't get used to them.

^ no, no, this set has a truck too-...but I agree, the set you have referenced is mighty fine too and has a mean truck and a beautiful cargo conveyor.

By in Germany,

I remember this Bionicle. It's name was "Cargoa" and I had lots of fun with it. Pretty big for it's time. :)

By in United Kingdom,

If I remember rightly, the logo on the plane’s tail, or something very similar to it, also appears on 5983 as part of its ‘undercover’ mode. Didn’t realise it was a callback

I have all these airplane sets, they look great on display but I think the older "4-wide" designs fit the LEGO aesthetic better...

I like the way they mounted the wing higher on this cargo plane than on the other airliner models, many of the real-life larger cargo haulers and military airlifters use such a design. I don't mind the propellers, but the long nose is much more fitting for a jet plane and when used here on a prop design makes the finished model look awkward and not true-to-life (admittedly, this was before some of the different, smaller nosepieces existed that have worked better on the newer cargo plane sets). The swinging opening tail section is fine, it would have been fantastic to have a swing-open nose as well (like on the C-5 Galaxy), but that's probably too big of a challenge for the parts on hand.

My only other beef is that the green stickers don't quite match the green brick colors, and it's a jarring contrast since the stickers are so big and prominent. I've noticed this with several other sets using green stickers as well, so it's not just this one.
