By in Australia,

^ Apparently so did Dobby.

I never ever saw what the rest of the fandom saw, in Dobby. I always thought he was an irritating little prat and I hated every second of him.

First RSD of the Year! Let's hope 2020's a good year for AFOLS and Kids alike.

May everyone's new year bring liberty and freedom as it does today for Dobby the house elf, but please not via stinky socks.

Dobby’s eyes still creep me out.

??He knows when you’re sleeping, and he knows when you’re awake...??

(Apparently I can’t comment emojis)

By in United Kingdom,

it feels so strange to get two rare minifigs in such a small set

2001-2002 LEGO Harry Potter was so good. All the secret compartments!

Nice set, but Dobby isn't the best house elf ever - he's allowed those candles to burn off the roof!

By in Italy,

I have this one.!This was the first vintage HP set I've ever bought out of my dark age

By in Netherlands,

If only HP stayed yellow skinned , and other licensed themes in general.

They'd appeal a lot more to me and more generic usefulness with in-house themes/figures.

I remember this set ^^ Never owned it myself, but I remember my friend buying it from Legoland - my family had a Legoland trip for my birthday annually for several years, and always invited a friend along too. (On that same trip, both of us picked up Kopaka Nuva as the first time we'd seen any of the Toa Nuva in real life; and I think I got a t-shirt too... maybe that was the orange one with all the Life on Mars martians on it? But that's tangential.)

In any case I remember that we stopped at a restaurant for dinner on the way home, and I remember him building this set while we were there, while I opened my Kopaka Nuva. I had no interest in HP at the time, but it was still a cool little thing ^^

An entirely different note: I have to say I'm so glad we no longer use those lightsaber blade pieces as wands in the Harry Potter theme, though! I know minifigure accessories are usually disproportionately large, but the wands felt even more over-the-top than usual. I'm, heh, slowly replacing the wands of my older Harry Potter minifigures with the spares I've got from the current range xD

Growing up my sister and I collected all the HP sets and this was the one set we both got a copy of because we both wanted to play with Dobby. Looking back on him now he's kind of terrifying to look at with his flesh coloured eyes, but hey, good memories.
