By in United States,

I seem to remember this being "Speed Splasher" in my old catalog. Someone should fix that.

Best life jacket design ever.

Oh, this was a cute little set. In the late 90s when Town offerings were pretty slim, at least X-treme (and RES-Q) were there for us.

Incidentally, why is Mount Everest there growing out of the middle of the Everglades?

This was one of my first sets as a kid, and somehow I also had an extra so it was always cool for me to use those XTreme Team stickers in MOCs. Fun little set.

I wanna know why this guy is going boating in the alps.

By in Turkey,

The design around the engine looks a bit weak, but that neon dish, wow...

Fun little builds like this are great. I'm glad we've still got polly bags so people can drop their pocket money on a quick and fun toy!

I love me some Extreme Team

X-Treme team, lovely stuff. I had a set from Toys R Us with an off road vehicle and a big plastic base. Paired with Adventurers and Res-Q, this was a great last gasp for Lego before some darker times...

It was the 90s, everything was more EXTREME back then.

I've asked this before, about a different subtheme, but once again I'm curious. Did these X-treme Team guys have official names?

I know the UK Lego Adventures magazine gave names to three of them (The guy in red was Daredevil Tom, green was Fearless McCoy, and this guy was Jimmy Brave); but I've not seen those referred to anywhere else, so I'm not sure if said names can be regarded as *official*. I feel like, sometimes, the Adventures writers just pulled names for characters out of thin air themselves.

On a tangential note: the X-treme Team Challenge ride, based on this theme, was my favourite at Legoland Windsor when I was a kid...

In the May-June 1998 edition of the LEGO MANIA Magazine (here in the USA), the feature story was on the X-treme Team and yes, they all had names. The green helmeted one was the team's coach, Max. The blue helmeted one was Rex. The red helmeted one was Alexis. Finally, the white helmeted character was Dex. Notice a pattern in the names? Simple, but they do sound better than the goofball ones the UK magazine came up with.

I think the minifigure in this set, which you think is Rex, is actually an imposter. Rex (and all the members of the X-treme team) has flames printed on his helmet. This guy doesn't. Not very XTREME in my opinion, hmph.

One of the first sets I ever remember was an Xtreme Team set. Always love seeing these.
