There is no way that front locomotive can stand on its own merits.

Definitely didn't expect to see my very first set from 24 years ago here.

Didn't get this but I did get 6581 a year after, which definitely felt more like a substantial upgrade.

OSHA is not a fan of this design.

I only bought this quite recently. Yes, it's a little impractical, but it's a cute mid-90s Town set, and that's all I ask.

Oh hey, it's Builder Pete... at least according to the old Lego Adventures comics that ran in the UK from 1999 to 2001. He was kinda one of the most frequently-occurring characters... each magazine had two comic strips, the first one featuring a new or current theme of the day (e.g. Ninja in the first issue), the second shorter one typically a town / city strip. This guy, along with his crew, showed up in any number of them alongside such similarly recurring characters as "Firefighter Jack" and "Highway Patrolman Bill".

Lego Adventures was never known for its spectacular storytelling in any case, but the City offerings always felt particularly weak to me. Maybe because they were shorter... or maybe just because I've always been less into the 'everyday'-feeling themes, so that might be on me more than anything else xD

Still. I collected every issue of that magazine as a kid - I was literally EXACTLY their target age group - and even if I'm well aware of all their weaknesses now, they are still incredibly nostalgic to me... not to mention, being my biggest source of Lego story lore for my first three years in the fandom ^^
