What are you talking about man? Space is space!
Miss these. Loved this one!
It's be good if Lego made small, cheap packs like this nowadays...
Looks like a cross between WALL-E and a Gonk Droid.
Did I ever tell you about the days when this was blue?
I always loved Mars Mission! one of my very first sets was 7648-1, MT-21 Mobile Mining Unit, but sadly I never had the chance to get anymore.
Anybody else remember the crystalian conflict game on Lego.com?
BioMedia Project archived it along with many other classic games so lots of them can still be played!
I remember how cool I thought this set was when I was like 8. Now, it’s still awesome, just, less awesome. I miss the mars mission sets. For me those are as nostalgic as classic space is to afols. Thanks for the reminder of such a great theme.
This was one of my absolute favorite sets as a kid, and it likely sparked my interest in brick built robots as a whole!
Mars Mission was one of the weaker entries in LEGO Space, but given Space's high level of quality was still super enjoyable. I just wish the Crystaliens had more detail!
Tiny binocular eyes
In the future your mailboxes will be armed with axes to keep away prying hands.
@Dare_Wreck:
WONK-E?
Thank you, I'll be here all week...
Good ol’ boxy boi.
Had this set. Judging by comments, it must have been popular here in Australia back in the day
2008?!? Oh, man. Looking at the quality of that robot, seems like it should have been a lot longer ago than that.
According to the set page, that mini robot actually counts as a minifigure.
Those planets in the background look like a hydrogen atom.
@Tony_Stark They do. They're called polybags.

Agreed, $3.99 for a bag in my area. 30365 is my last purchase, I see 30575 Train all over Target now.
Those were the days my friend...
I loved this set as a kid! It got some of the most play out of my early sets. I still have it to this day.
Danger, Will Robinson.
This Mini Robot likes old-school pickaxes.
Incredibly advanced space-faring and robotics technology and the best they could give it to dig with is just a straight up pick axe XD
Reminds me of the moon robot in Wallace and Gromit.
2008: For 3$, you get 1 minifigure and a bunch of very nice pieces.
2020: For 5$, you get 1 minifigure.
Nobody really cared for the Robot in this set, I would claim. The good part was that metal-detector, the crystals and the minifig.

That's what I thought when I saw it!
What is really shocking is that this is a standard set, not just some polybag they slapped together for a promo.
But, I am always using the majority of similar parts as in this set, and the crystals are cool. But, I would not go out of my way to buy this set; especially as it's been out of production for over a decade.
Why do you guys all hate the robot so much he's cute.
This is actually pretty creative.
Awesome droid! Want it
I think I got this for Christmas in 2008. I really liked it as a kid. It clearly wasn't made for AFOLS so I don't see the point in complaining about the simplicity or whatever.
It's a re-purposed gonk droid!
One of the few mars mission sets I don't have.
