A bird flying a plane? Now that's just silly.

^ In fairness to LEGO, the anthropomorphised crow has arms, not wings.

By in New Zealand,

What a beautiful set. It’s unfortunate that Chima couldn’t pick up from this and instead became a highly militarised theme.

By in United States,

This feels like an old Highlights magazine "seek and find" picture. I spot a 4 leaf clover in the background bush.

You gotta be one serious pilot to put a plane down on THAT landing strip!

And the Falco says: "Personally, I prefer the air!"

If this came out today people would bash it for having to many specialized and large pieces.

One thing I always loved about Fabuland is how much it feels like Animal Crossing, despite coming out decades beforehand. Maybe this new Nintendo license can open up AC sets that creative fans could turn into a Fabuland 2 of sorts
Interestingly in a recent blurb (I think on their website somewhere) LEGO said that Ninjago's success was due to it incorporating elements of themes like "BIONICLE and Fabuland." I can defiantly see elements of BIONICLE in Ninjago, but... what did it take from Fabuland? Anthropomorphic animals (except just snakes this time) and a decade long lifetime... but that's about it.

^-The difference is Fabuland is MEANT for kids under the age of like 4 or 5 (like the junior sets of today)

Fabuland Airport is experiencing longer than average wait times due to COVID-19 screenings. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the health and safety of the Fabuland populace.

By in Canada,

I think the bigger problem at this Fabuland transportation hub is that they only have one plane, and it’s a one-seater. So nobody except the pilot can leave or enter—actually, that’s probably a very effective measure against the spread of COVID-19.

This airport has all kinds of problems:
Gardeners wandering around on the runway,
Nobody in the control tower,
Picnic table set up beside the landing strip...
Fabuland is asking for a lawsuit.

Where is my man going with the fuel can and Mjolnir on the hand truck?

By in Turkey,

One of my all time favorite sets. I couldn't get it due to availability around me at the time, but how I wish I had this. Priceless...

By in United Kingdom,

I'm sorry, but I still find these guys vaguely creepy looking. Bit of the uncanny valley coming in I think

FABULAND: still one of the BEST LEGO themes ever!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Isn't that baseplate super rare?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have this one. It's probably one of my favourites of all my Fabuland. I also have the red plane (Sandy the Seagull) to go with it. I used to combine the planes to make a tri - plane. As for passengers - I used to sit them on the wings. Obviously.
This was my 9th Birthday pressy if I remember correctly. That year I also got my Roland Rat (not a Fabuland figure - UK folks should know who he is) and my Applejack My Little Pony. What a fricking awesome birthday.

By in Hungary,

The runway doesn't look long enough.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

This was my first fabuland set that I got from my aunts.
And since then I am big Fabuland Fan :D

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

One of my first LEGO sets when I was a kid. Loved it. The instructions was a drawn comic. Looking at the sets for kids these days the instructions have definitely been dumbed down quite a bit.

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

Did you guys know that at one point, Fabualnd has a very short lived TV Show?

It's a private airport. That bird is a 1 percenter

By in Belgium,

I still have this set and I'm glad it came back complete after lending it to my niece for a few years. A few years ago I also managed to buy a big metal plaque with the Fabuland logo on it. It looks official, but I've no idea which store would've had metal advertising plaques...

By in United States,

Does anyone remember Richard Scarry's Busytown series of books? That's what these Fabuland sets remind me of.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@julianbricks it has been discussed many times in my LUG that we reckon Fabuland must have been inspired by Richard Scarry. They are very similar!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Fabuland is so good. I have spent many many hours playing with Fabuland. This particular set i didn’t have :’-(

Fabuland, like Bionicle and Ninjago, had a story. There were Fabuland picture books and a stop-motion TV show which was mentioned on a Random Set comments last year.

By in United Kingdom,

I recall that aeroplane and its pilot from, like, the ONE SINGLE SCENE of the Fabuland TV show that I actually remember. I'm not sure how much of the show I watched as a kid - I think it was old even then, and it didn't make any big impression on me, but we had a recorded VHS tape of at least a little of it - but the only clear memory of it I have was the crow pilot getting lost in fog.

I... think that happened, at least? I might even have dreamed that, I don't even know at this point xD I do know that I didn't even realise it was Lego at the time, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Norikins I knew it had a tv show but never picture books, were they just images of the sets or full on illustrations?

Gravatar
By in Poland,

There were hand drawn picture books and books with screens from show

It was called Edward and Friends and you can watch some episodes that I have put on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keJua4D2Ymg

The one I had was a little book with screenshots taken straight from the show; I think it was just a retelling of one of the episodes. I don't remember where I got it from; but I do remember that it was only when I saw that book after that I realised Fabuland was actually Lego, so that was kind of a "WAIT WHAT" moment for me xD

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well that is gosh darn A-Door-Able. Too bad by '84 I'd moved on to big boy LEGO, and entered my Fabuland Dark Ages lol.
