By in United States,

Kinda reminds me of Space Police III from much later, when I was a kid!

That picture gives me nightmares of permanently bending many antennae trying to remove them from those closed loop modified 1x1 plates.

Yeah, it’s not fun.

By in United States,

Yay! I own this set!

It's a lovely little set from when Classic Space changed from gray to other colors.

I love seeing sets I actually owned even if I no longer do. F

Baby got back!

By in Turkey,

This set is very iconic in my mind. It looked like a badass biker and the red astronaut was the cool guy. My cousin had this set first, but years later when he gave me his Lego's it was all mine. Happy to say that it's still with us.

One of my earliest memories is of this set. Apparently I'm not alone.

By in United Kingdom,

It is indeed all of those things. Interesting to see a Space name that doesn't have something like "hyper" or "stellar" in the name and is just basic description

By in United States,

Had this one for as long as I could remember. Those anti-grav boosters skim along the carpet quite well. I love that for more than one of you, this was your first set. That's awesome. My first set was 722 (Basic), but my first space set was 6861. Yay for any set starting with 68xx!

This was my first LEGO set! Christmas gift from my grandparents when I was six. I played with it for hours and hours swishing through the house. I preferred building it with a wider wingspan. Amazingly it was my only set as a child until I realized 25 years later how awesome LEGO is!

By in Finland,

This was the time when the spacecraft started to feature a lot of white in CS. In my opinion, light gray (+ blue) + trans-yellow will always be the purest and the best of all the color schemes. Too bad it basically only appeared during 1978-1980. Most of the later CS sets have too much blue, white and even trans-green...

Or just snapping of the ring clip, especially on those old plates with a very thin ring clip... and this technique was used rather often, 6980 Galaxy Commander was a prime offender in that regard with all those antennae going through not one, but two clips :s

This is my kinda era.... I remember this well, when I saw "small space shuttle" I was hoping for 918 THE classic set. I think I had two of 6842, or maybe 6822, I remember using the sleds (pieces it runs on) to swap with the 918's stilts (not using correct piece names obviously) @PaulRevere speaking of unexpected clutch powers I've just made up a set where I add 5-6 1x1 plates with holes onto an antenna to make a pattern and once on even 2-3 are impossible to get off in bulk one on and one off at a time is the only way.

By in United Kingdom,

Cool I own this

By in Hungary,

Two classic space sets in 4 days, that CAN NOT be random, obviously :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, I own this set! I actually recently got it from my Dad's collection of Classic Space sets :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Enjoyed quit a few space adventures with this set.
My dream is to once have enough room to build and display all those old sets.
The minifigures are all ruined though because of intensive play.

Same for me. I still have some pieces which survived mold and inundation.

Since no one has commented this yet: "SPACESHIP!"

By in United Kingdom,

Here's an odd one: so as a kid my mum bought a trunk full of assorted lego, and some B&W photocopied instructions. It contained quite a lot of space, and I used to get given sets as rewards (ie I wasn't given the whole thing at once).

So when I got this, I got it in all-grey.

Only a couple of years ago did I find out about the white bits.

For some reason I never liked this set - one of the very few from this theme.

That’s funny. This was my last Classic Space set for decades. I had been into CS from its inception, lost interest around the time of this set and didn’t get back into it until LEGO re-issued some CS minifigures.

SPACESHIP!!!

By in United States,

I had two of these! I think it was because two different friends bought them as birthday presents. It wasn’t my first space set, but it did help nurture that growing love for all things SPACE!

By in United States,

Own this one, definitely ended up snapping BOTH of the ring clips from playing with it so much. Only in the past year have I replaced those parts. And the black ladder, which also broke. Oops. Hey, I was a kid and played with these sets ALL the time. It's nice that these pieces are still available to be replaced. :)

By in United Kingdom,

One of my earliest sets! Good memories!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I appreciate where it came from, but this set is pretty bleh. It's a bit to much "spare parts" for my liking

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love this little set, two of my engines broke when I was little and it was devastating. I have since replaced them, but that design was a bit fragile. (or maybe I was a bit rough)

Gravatar
By in United States,

got this one, went into my dark age shortly after. maybe i should rebuild it today

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Also one of my earliest sets from my childhood. Fond memories.
