I was just going to say, buying a Lego set for a dollar?! What frickin' bizarro world did I wake up in?

By in Australia,

I'm sorry, Catapult? No, that's just a platform with wheels and a blue horse helmet. I can't even tell where the catapult ammunition is supposed to go.
But for only $1USD, it's worth it.

But... can it launch a 90 kg projectile 300 meters?

Well, if something has ever deserved the title of "random set" it must certainly be this.

Next time on "Lego Masters"...?

By in United States,

It's simple, but it works. I like seeing what I can launch and/or fling with LEGO.

I got bored, and hooked one of those six-stud revolver shooters from a Batman polybag up to a Power Functions M motor. The thing fired off all six rounds in the blink of an eye. Been thinking about rigging that to Mindstorms/Powered Up in order to make a thing that once a sensor is tripped, it fires off all six rounds.

I always wondered where that horse peace I have came from!!!

By in Turkey,

None of the parts work for me, so, not even for a buck...

Huh, I don't recall ever seeing those style wooden wheels before.

Edit: Aha! Those are reddish brown hockey pucks!

It’s really more a see-saw isn’t it? Does ammunition stay on the launching end? Looks like it would have to be clipped on which rather defeats the point of sticking it to a launcher

I bought two of these at Legoland when I was a kid!!!

It's hard to tell due to the picture quality, as there's a reflection crease over that point, but there's two 1x1 tiles with side panels (bricklink part 6231) situated on the back for the ammunition to slot into. The ammo fits in quite nicely and it makes for a very nice catapult.

IIRC, it actually had a surprisingly long range, enough that childhood me quickly lost all the ammunition during raids on Ogel's Fortress (don't ask me why the Alpha Team was using ancient catapults to attack Ogel, that part of the story has been lost to time... XD)

If I ever find one of the old instruction pages (or maybe even the polybag itself), I'll see if I can't get a better photo for Brickset to use.

By in Croatia,

So, a bunch of nice pieces (some of them quite uncommon) for 1$? Sure, I'll take it.

No way a catapult is doing that. You need something Richard the Strong from KK1 calls a "trebuchet". KK1 was way ahead of its time.

I actually own this set from when I was a kid! Got it from Walmart. Came with a scholastic book? And also a minifigure polybag, printed body Jayko with the light blue brim helmet

I was wondering the same thing... never saw those wheels before either. Neat piece re-use!

By in Canada,

When I saw these at a dollar store I thought they were fake despite the LEGO branding. I'd never seen or heard of $1 sets, it was really suspicious.

But then I checked on Brickset and they were the real deal, so I had to buy one.

I wonder why LEGO made a polybag this cheap.

The first Lego set I ever bought, at the dollar store

That's not a catapult. It's a horseapult.
